Pours a mostly diminsihing foamy head into a pilsner glass. Light yellow straw-like hue. Smell has a light sense of a bready malt, with a moderate floral and honey characteristics. A little doughy. Taste is as the aroma, with the very nice, style and season appropriate warm of alcohol, which is nticeable, but that's what an early bock is to be, imo. I have purchased a couple cases of this over the last year, and it has always seemed consistent from first to last. It is a great beer to take down the shore and drink on a cool, late spring night.

poured into a flaired tulip glass from a 12oz brown bottle with a crimped cap best by 7/21/07.

Golden to light amber in color, clear with a 2' white creamy head, good retention. Very lively looking beer large soda like bubbles coat the bottom of the glass with tiny bubbles streaming towards the surface, looks a bit champagne like. A fun beer just to watch

Clean, very fruity aroma, bit of an apple wine like aroma, flowery, with a delicate sweet honey-like malt nose.

Clean, sugary maltiness with some honey flavors and a slight tinge of alcohol. Grassy/straw like tastes with a green apple taste.
Finishes very dry and sweet with some light booziness. Had to keep reminding myself I was drinking beer not wine. Good pleasing taste was a bit suprized by the taste, just not what I expected, but it was enjoyable.

Light, smooth, just a slight bit watery,I expected it to have a bit more body. Very easy drinking, could drink a few of these, just not all night. A beer worth a try, would be a good beer for a wine drinker.

12oz bottle, dated best by 7/20/07, with a purple lable graced by a scary looking ram. Pours a clear gold with orange tint. One-finger white head dissipates quickly.

The aroma offers warm honey malt, a little orange, some floral notes, and a pinch of citrusy hops. Flavor follows, along with a strong presence of grain and other berry elements, a little phenolic syrupy-ness, and just a whisper of alcohol on the finish.

The mouth is light-bodied, yet offer a nice velvety fruitiness, balanced out by the warm malts and late, mild surge of hops. Very drinkable--a great summertime beer that offers enough flavor to be acceptable. Solid.

Appearance: Deep amber honey golden hue with a nice creamy texture creamy orange tinted head, leaves intricate even lacing down my glass. Aroma: Rich sweetness with alcohol around the edges. A mild touch of fruitiness but overall there's alot of depth in this brew finishes with a touch of German Noble hops. Taste: Very quaffable big malty layers of reserved fruit and alcohol, but so damn tasty all topped off with a mild dose of semi herbal grassy hop flavoring with low bitterness. Mouthfeel: Medium bodied and slightly sticky even carbonation no complaints. Drinkability: Great stuff, easily consumed and great flavor profile.

Look: Gold, slight haze
Smell: Low hop scent, some citrus
Taste: Slight wheat taste. Bad after taste but smooth drinking

I think this was an old bottle. I read they stopped brewing it in May. It was consumed late September. I was really hoping for more from this beer but it fell far short. I'll probably try it again but only if it's from a new batch.

On a side note, this is my first beer review.

poured a beautiful clear reddish amber with a nice full head that melted quickly to very fine lacing.
Aroma is sweet bread and alcohol.
Taste is of sweet malts, bread, and a biting hops.
Mouthfeel is incredibly full with tiny carbonation and a sticking sweetness.
Aftertaste of hops and yeast drying and alcohol, with an alcohol burn.
A very surprising a full maibock with a hidden alcohol content. Very balanced brew.

Thanks to ShanePB for this bottle.

A: Pours hazy light orange color with tints of gold in it. A 1.5 finger white foamy head forms upon pouring and has decent retention. Nice white lacing forms all around the glass.

S: Some bready malt, light citrus fruits, lemon, and a little bit of grain. Rather light.

T: A nice combination of light citrus fruit, honey, and some grainy malt. There is some bready malt on the backend. Finishes sweet.

M: Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Drinks smooth and rather easy.

O: A pretty good beer. Hoppier than others in the style I have had. Probably not something I would go to all the time, but could see it being nice on a hot day or paired with a salad actually.

A: An exceptional balance between pale yellow and orange, like orange blossom honey.

S: Very faint, earthy with a touch of citrus. Disappears as head settles

T: Light citrus up front that gives way to increasing bitterness, that tails off at the end. A nice low amplitude roller-coaster

M: Exceptionally crisp

D: The 7% ABV is barely noticed. This is a well balanced beer.

In the tradition of the Mai Bock, this is a perfect beer to be enjoyed in the spring. The herbal-citrus balance is a welcome prompt that a new season is on the way!

Poured into a flute and even though the head wasn't much, despite a healthy pour, the color is a dirty blonde with excellent clarity and lots of bubbles racing to the top.

Aromas are delightful: white grape, honey, yeast, and something reminding of pilsner malt.

The flavors are incredible, aided by a light, creamy mouthfeel and a finish that reminds of the funkier Belgian yeast strains meeting orange rind. The flavors themselves are so well-mingled and unique, it seems almost an insult to the beer to dissect it too much. But ok: there's strong honey and white grape; it's floral and earthy; yeastiness comes into the flavor and carries through to the finish; all the while I'm reminded of Belgian saisons, white wine, and even champagne (the latter two largely due to the pleasant dryness). It's complex, and a little bit of a challenge to figure out. I know I love it.

I'm not sure I "know" this beer after two bottles, but I will revisit it many times, and will certainly buy more than two bottles next run. It's a pleasant sipper, light yet surprisingly complex, and along with their Tripel, my favorite Stoudts offering so far.

Partnership of very good mouthfeel and bitter finish.Fruity and honeyish and then the noble hops, grassy and it works. Not too comlex, but a delicate and very nice beverage and kudos again to Stoudts.Medium mouthfeel.Pilsner aroma.Appropriate carbonation.

Stoudt's Blonde Double Maibock is a good, solid, straightforward and very well-brewed bock that lives up to it's expectations!

It delivers a nice appearance with a clear, dark golden body and respectably sized off-white colored head. The retention could be slightly better, but at 7% it deserves a little slack.

The nose offers lightly bready Munich malts with background notes of floral and spicy hops.

In the mouth it's just delicately crisp with a very-fine bubbled carbonation and medium-full body that leaves it quite smooth across the palate.

The flavor is almost exactly as the nose suggests it will be, with the addition of a little bit more hop flavor and a just-balancing bitterness. The alcohol is superbly cloaked and it finishes drying, with a slowly receeding maltiness.

Well brewed! Nicely balanced and very clean.

On-tap at the Spinnerstown Hotel

Fairly hoppy for a Maibock, but still a pretty tasty beer. The aroma has a sweet fruity malt note and the flavor focuses on spicy, ground pepper hops with a light malt balance. There's a semi-dry finish with a medium bitterness. The body was on the light side of medium, and paired with moderate carbonation, made this a very drinkable beer. Try this Maibock if you like Euro hops.

Pours with a firm head, white in color, attractive lacing as it subsides over deep golden liquid. The nose is sweet with suggestions of honey amid a firm malty base...nice flowery/grassy notes too. Taste is bittersweet, or sweet-bitter more accurately, with more honeyish tastes mixed with malt sweetness . Then a nice short-lived bitter blast of hoppiness appears to dry things out a bit. Finishes on a clean note...very much the quaffable brew.

Pours a deep straw orange with a small white head.

Grassy, noble hop smell. Also a bit of grainy character reminiscent of lager. Alcohol present in the nose.

Astringently sweet up front. Funky stale grain flavor mid tongue. Ends with a resiny bitterness.

Low-medium body, not too complex, but complex enough to keep your interest.

Poured into my mug a perfect golden orange color with thre full inches of creamy off white head that very slowly laced down the sides of the glass. Absolutley perfect looking beer.

Smells strongly of earthy spiced hops and a slight sweet maltiness.

Taste is very good with a strong earthy charachter balancing out the slightly sweeet fruit maltiness very well with a slight yeasty taste. With a full creamy mouthfeel and a nice warming alcohol affect this is a rather nice offering from Stoudt's. A very drinkable Double Maibock.
Thanks to santoslhalper for the sample.

Thanks Muenchenerkindl for this very fine beer!

It's a maibock all right! It pours a vibrant gold, looking rather like a good pils. But, haha! There is much more beneath the surface of this beer.

The tastes are very fruity, even for a maibock. Lots of esters flying around, so much so that the nose is actively distracting, and a nice sweet finish.

If you want to drink higher ABV beers during the summer, maibocks are the way to go and this is a prime example of the style. Delicious!

Nice copper color ...decent initial head...leaves very nice lacing. Smell is malty, fruity with a honey presence. Taste is full with a strong malt presence, honey element are present mainly in the smoothness it gives. Mouthfeel is rounded, chewy and reminds you to sip this offering. Mouthfeel is heavy IMO. A bit oily also, but not in a distarcting way. Light bitterness in the finish. Alchol presence is there too. I'm not a big lager fan...but this was a good brew.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle to my pt glass is a dark yellow liquid with a small yellow stained head. Fades to a small lace.

The smell is of fruit & yeasty malts. Not bad, kind of inviting.

The taste is of lots of honey, and lots of malt.

Mouthfeel is thick, flat, thick, heavy, thick and syrupy. Did I say thick, not chewy, but flat. Thick and flat. Yea, that’s it.

Drinkability, None too good, unless you like Thick, flat, heavy and well you get it. Slid me a Hofbrau Mai bock. Dang it sounded great, what's with all the Honey?

Honey double mai bock not as sweet as it once was and more hoppy than in recent years.. still a very drinkable Bock with a malty taste that keps asking for more. The alcohol is not really present until you have had a few and then stand up. Very fresh and balanced bock worth tasting.

A: Poured a dirty blonde-orange with a light fluffy white head that quickly faded.

S: some light honey sweetness, bread, and lemons.

T: For flavor there was a nice malty sweetness combined with the honey that was balanced quite well with a medium bitterness of hops in the fade. There was a slight fruitiness (pears, apples) as well in the middle of the palate.

M: moderate though felt a little over carbonated and coarse per style.

D: Overall drinkability was ok, a tad bit over carbonated and a little coarse around the edges distracts from enjoyment.
