Copper and clear.

Fruity nose with berries and lemon cream. Slightly funky.

Confused palate, no cohesion between malt/hops/yeast.

Not sure about this one - promised interest on the nose but hard to drink. Suspect it may be this brewery that brews in a style I'm not used to.

Bottle shared by Lee - thanks!

Pours a pale honey-tinged color with a very thin white head. The head recedes into a thin ring around the glass leaving light lacing.

Smells very floral - similar to honeysuckles but a bit more robust. Also present are indistinct sweet malts.

Tastes alright. Somewhat grainy pale malt flavors kick things off and are joined quickly by hints of light citrus flavors. Midway through the sip the flavors sweeten a bit and carry through to an ending that's neither sweet nor bitter.

Mouthfeel is OK. It's on the thin side with smooth carbonation.

Drinkability is good. I finished my glass without a problem and could have another.

Overall this beer was very unexpected, from the bottle to the appearance to the smell and finally to the flavors. Worth a shot simply because of its uniqueness.

Rich citrus aroma is mainly lemon and has a good yeasty undertone. It pours a hazy, nearly opaque pale honey yellow. Flavor is richly citrusy, mainly lemon, and yeasty with a good malty undertone. Texture is rather smooth and somewhat fizzy. If you visit Japan, give it a try.

A - Poured a very low head, with some visible yeasty asymmetric bubbles. There was persistant but subdued carbonation. A pleasant honey color with just a bit of yeast cloudiness. Also worth note this is the first time I've seen a bottle exactly like this one...ribbed for pleasure.

S - YEAST, some fusil butane smells but not that much. There is a sweet sugar smell and of course pale malts.

T - Crispy, slightly spicy, lots and lots of yeast flavors. Some mild fruity flavors hiding behind the yeast. The bottle label makes a point of noting the live yeast used and you can certainly taste it. The malt is just about right for this kind of beer, but the hops are basically unnoticeable. Aftertaste was predictably sour.

M - Surprisingly smooth. Some bubbly champagne texture.

D - A nice, simple, yeasty flavor. The hop/yeast balance is too far off to be excellent, but the beer is drinkable.

Note: This is one of only a veyr few Chiba beers I've found.
