I had this on tap at the BBC brewpub poured into more of a wit glass than a weizen glass. It was server with a slice of orance on the glass rim, which was discarded immediately. The color is a hazy light orange, with 2 fingers of head which have great retention and lacing. There is a little bit of a citrus aroma, maybe from the orange, maybe not. The flavor has a banana maltiness with a good hops finish. There is a little bit of a yeasty taste in there. The mouthfeel is fairly nice for a wheat, and the drinkability is fairy good too. Not bad on a hot summer day.

3/25/18...clear gold, light white foam, ring around the rim. Citrus wheaty nose. Clean taste, sweet with banana backing. Lighter mouthfeel all around. Ok.

Served on tap at BBC (4th St) in Louisville, KY.

It appears that this may now be a seasonal beer and not quite retired.

A: Pours a lightly hazy medium to golden yellow in color. The beer has a thin white head that quickly reduces to a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: This beer has a very mild aroma with just light hints of wheat, spices, and citrus.

T: The flavor of this beer is also quite mild (like the smell) with light to moderate wheat presence. There are also notes of citrus and an almost rye like spiciness. There is a light lingering bitterness in the finish.

M: Light to medium bodied with light amounts of carbonation.

O: Very light and refreshing on a warm summer evening. Very easy to drink and definitely a sessionable beer. Good as a seasonal offering.

Looking at the composite scores for this beer I feel bad for giving it average to slightly above numbers, but really that is about what I felt about it.

The beer poured a dark gold color and had a somewhat cloudy appearance. There was a wispy head and some lacing. The initial attack was pretty clean, but the flavor had a definite sweet and fruity character about it. The finish was pretty clean. I would drink this beer again, but wouldn't choose it over some of Bluegrass other offerings. Yes, I did try to keep with the "type" (which I am wondering if anyone reading this would question) I am still putting it in the average category. It was "okay."

Had this on tap at a restaraunt in Louisville Ky!

A - Noce golden hazy orange yellow with a soft white head. The head receded to a small ring that lasted the entire beer.

S - Good smell clove, banana, small amount of a bready yeast.

T - Very nice taste, I got more of the clove up front and then banana and citrus small amount of yeast taste. After taste still held mostly clove.

M - Very smooth and not too grainy or too full.

D - This beer has excellent drinkability very easy to enjoy and very well balanced American Hefeweien. I would recommend everyone to try and enjoy one of these.

Apparently the beertender thinks that I am suffering from scurvy. That's the only reason that I can think of for putting an orange slice in my beer. After carefully filtering out the fruit, the experience was nice. Sitting on the patio on a warm, sunny, spring day, drinking a Hefe. Aaaah, life is good. Taking in the crisp citrus aromas with light hints of esters (clove, bananna, and confectionate sugars), and a light yeast and bread hint. Flavors agree with the aromas in a soft and delicate manor. The beer is pretty hoppy for a wheat beer, but helps to crispen it up a bit while adding a failsafe level of complexity. Medium texture that doesn't leave in a watery hurry or pronounced graininess, which is common in American wheats. Finishes clean, crisp, with a light herbal and minty note. Certainly worth a try.
