Pours a muddy pitch-dark brown with a small tan head that doesn't last very long.
Huge dusty cocoa smell permeates the aroma, with just a hint of boozy bourbon-ness. Oak woodiness comes out further upon warming. If there are hops here, you wouldn't know it from the smell.
Taste: Now the hops come through, rather strongly, but balanced with a mild whisky essence, a pinch of anise, overripe dark fruit, woody earthiness and plenty of roasted coffee. Quite delicious...been a while since I had a stout, and this was a fine one to return to.
The mouthfeel is as it should be, thick and creamy but not overly so, and not sticky either.
A good sippin' stout. Superbly well-hidden alcohol. Everything in its right place, also exhibiting small bits of its own unique character. Just such a high ABV that you might want to watch yo'self.

12oz bottle Batch #12 purchased a 4pk in French Lick, IN and drank in 2010. Poured into a 12oz glass.
L: Black with ruby on the edges. Thin head. Some sediment.
S: Oak, lightly smoky, caramel, coffee, wood tones.
T: Woody, smoky oak, bourbon, rather sweet but not cloying.
F: Firm, smooth. It's a sipping beer with a long full-flavored finish.
O: A very complex BBS from Blue Grass Brwg that could be cellared for multiple years. It is (was) excellent in it's style.

2009 12oz bottle poured into a tulip, the brew appears black in color with a khaki cap.
The nose is pretty mild but with a hint of oak, roasty chocolate/espresso and vanilla/caramel.
Taste has some nutty character, sweet with milk chocolate and a very clean finish with an aftertaste mildly oaky. As it warms up, the nuance of oak comes forth with caramel and vanilla.
Medium to lighter in body with moderately low carbonation. Decent

One of my favorite bourbon-barrel-aged stouts. The taste brings to mind alcoholic root beer. At least, it does to me.

Great nose, you get the bourbon, but light in taste and complexity

Draft. Pours black but I see a little light. Little 1 finger head that lingers for a bit. Hints of bourbon under chocolate and coffee through the nose. Oddly light in the mouth with only subtle tastes of bourbon. Zero burn. Light ABV is my guess. Not creamy. Goes down extremity easy and smooth. Could drink several. No after taste . Not filling. Interesting.
