pink in color, like the inside of a plum with a big, fizzy, light head on top that hung around forever, finally some signs of life! Lots of carbonation was evident throughout the session with a nice and hazy appearance to it overall. Rich blackberry like aroma, fruity for a change with not soo much riding on the sour and tart side of it. Light sweetness as it warmed and the fruit flavor was just ridiculously rich and bright. Biting sour notes come across the tongue almost instantly, refreshing, clean and crisp as the subtle and strikingly sweet flavor of berries then roll out across the palate

Thank you emerge077 for busting this new-ish brew out at a tasting yesterday. BBC's Blackberry Lambic shows off a lightly hazed sunset orange body with some copper highlights when backlit. The off-white head grows easily on the pour and eventually settles to a swirling skim coat with a respectable collar that leaves behind some tiny chunks of lacing here and there.

When I take my first whiff I'm immediately greeted by a lactic quality when combined with the blackberries is a dead on ringer for blackberry yogurt. With some warming I get a touch of vegetal celery on the backend that somehow doesn't seem out of place. The blackberries bring along the stems and a couple leaves to add an earthy quality overall. My mind may be playing tricks on me but there was a touch of sweet bourbon way in the back.

The flavor starts out nicely with all that rich, delicious blackberry yogurt lactic quality. Earthiness hits next with the unique taste of stems and leaves before a tannic, actually bitter, finish comes around on the swallow and washes everything else away. A little touch of medicinal funk floats around in the back and the blackberries add a nice tartness.

The body has a moderate feel with a quick stickiness before the carbonation gets things rolling again. The finish is stemmy bitter and lasts on the tongue until the next sip. This lambic has a super long, drawn out finish.

This was an easy drinker even though the out of place bitterness tended to get in the way at times. I could see myself putting a couple small glasses away in a sitting though.

I'm glad I got the chance to try this new brew from Bluegrass Brewing. I like the direction the brewer is taking with his lambics and feel that with a little more tweaking they would certainly be worth searching out. Thanks for pulling this brew out, Matt!

Murky, ruddy orange with decent head retention, not much lace, and eventually a broken skim across the surface. Aroma of blackberry yogurt, medicinal Brett, vegetal celery, herbal...salty...and even potting soil. Definitely funky, strange and unique.

As it warms the weirdness in the aroma blows off somewhat. Flavors of blackberry stems, seeds, and some fruit, sort of medicinal again. Strong bitter tannin with a hint of sour mash in the finish. Corn Nuts came to mind as my first sip was swallowed, oddly enough. Maybe a result of the spent bourbon barrel it was aged in (per the brewer), or Brett. Lasting bitter aftertaste, almost dirty in the finish. The carbonation and body were ok, but the flavors clashed a bit, detracting from the overall feel and drinkability. The idea is good, but still needs tweaking. Possibly more time in the barrel or blending would round out the rough edges. Otherwise it's a promising creative experiment from this brewery, I applaud their first foray into Wild Ale/Lambic-style beers.

Thanks to Matt for bringing this brew over to our tasting. Served in a tulip glass.

A - A couple fingers of off-white head that dissipates sort of quick to a ring and some haze. Not much in the way of lace. Nice hazed orange-brown color.

S - Smells like blackberry yogurt. Some lactobacillus mixed with mixed with super-ripe sweet blackberries. Very sweet and quite nice.

T - Yikes - what happened? Taste is odd, with a weird dirty sour kind of flavor to it. There's still blackberry, but it's the sour unripened variety. There's an odd aftertaste going on that is a cross between earth and plastic.

M - Light carbonation tingle, medium body, very clean finish with some light stickiness.

D - It was alright - nothing really prevented me from drinking it, but the aftertaste was kind of off-putting.

Smelled good, but went downhill from there.
