Nut Brown AleNut Brown Ale
Notes: Nut Brown Ale has a diverse grain bill which lends this traditional English ale a variety of flavors that coalesce into a remarkably smooth and pleasant drink. Additions of various pale, caramel and dark malts create a smooth, sweet malt profile with hints of roasted nuttiness. Multiple additions of English hops round out the flavors and give this classic beer a true flavor of the Old World.

BBC Nut Brown Ale poured into an etched Newcastle wellington, consumed on 5/14/12. Can't make out the "bottled on" date for sure but it looks like it may be Jan. 2012.

A- Pathetic head. Thin fizzy sheet that fizzes down to nothing instantly. Happened so quick I didn't even catch the color. Brown body with deep dark ruby hues. Poor clarity. A little swirling gets a very thin off-white crown goin. Zero lacing.

S- Out the neck: caramel, light roast, slightly nutty, smells sweet. Once poured, just a toned down version of what I was smelling out of the neck with a little toffee now. Also picking up on a little more light roast.

T- A little sweet. Everything is "light". Light malt, light caramel, light nuttiness. Finish is semi-sweet. Light roast lingers in the aftertaste. Balanced to the point where nothing really stands out. Everything gets kinda muddied together.

M- Medium-high carbonation. Moderate-light body.

O- This used to be one of my favorite styles. After drinking so many BA Imperial Stouts and DIPAs it's hard to drink thin watery stuff like this but it has it's place and I think this is a decent representation of the style.
