A clear copper toned amber beer, a small white head with little lacing.

The smell is sweet, honey, alcohol is there, nutty sherry, malty bread, some yeast and a bit spicy zing.

Upfront sweet nuances, caramel and toffee, some sourness, rhubarb, a bitter warm finish. A bit raw.

Medium carbonation, very small bubbles, smooth feeling and a dry finish.

Not bad at all, wonder if some storing would mature the taste.

A bottle from the 2010 release.

Appearance: Grebbestad Majbock anno 2008 pours a darker shade of amber along with a tall cream white crown which consists of large bubbles, dimishes in a somewhat medium pace and leaves a small amount of lacing along the glas.

Smell: Mostly a sweet one, that of apricot along with syrup-rich bread comes to mind.

Taste: Slightly bitter at first then the taste quickly develops into a fruitier tone, not all too distanced to that of the above mentioned apricot; finally to leave you with a breadish bitter-sweet-n-sour mix in the end. It covers a wide spectrum, but never with a the result of any one of the taste experiences ever standing out.

Now, this may all seem like it gives you one helluva balanced beer when it comes to the taste. Well then, if that is the case, allow me to refrase myself: it's more that none of the flavours truly grab your attention like "Woah, Mein Führer of Funk, that's a tasting experience if I ever had one!" Not that that they are percieved as bland in anyway but moreso as somewhat mellow and thus, leaves one wishing for "more". Still good tough...

Mouthfeel: Medium in carbonation, very full and creamy.

Drinkability: Despite the rant about the taste (and shady esoteric refereces to various ideologies in certain types of music) above this actually IS an enjoyable ride which I'd gladly have another one of -- but they're all out! Oh cruel fate (aka the brewery and Der Systembolag) why must thou mock me etc... Cheers!

Pours a clear copper with a white fizzly, crisp head that dies down pretty fast, leaving a ring on the beer.

Smells more of hops than I had expected, pretty heavy dose of floral noble hops initially, with a robust caramel maltiness. The hops have a kind of orange-juice like thing... really fresh for a bock.

Taste is in line with the nose, hops up front, but not as dominant as in the smell, and the malts are quick to take over and present light died fruits with a mildly sweet carramellized ring to it.

Pretty smooth mouthfeel with a soft carbonation that doesnt steal attention from the rest of the beer.

The colour is rich amber; the two finger head is firm and off-white. Almost no lacing.

The smell is sweet with lots of malt and quite a bit of alcohol. Cookies, nuts, toffee and a mild bitter flavour.

The taste is fruity with lots of plums, raisins, matured apples, apricots and peaces. It is followed by a somewhat dry flavour of dark bread, some alcohol and a hint of margarine. The aftertaste got an unexpected flavour of wheat flour, some herbs and a mild yet distinct bitterness.

The carbonation is medium to strong, the liquid smooth.

A fine no-nonsense Maibock.

33 cl short-necked stubby-looking bottle, with a pale label in green and beige.

A: Pours copper with a rather small white head, still compact though. Slow dissipation leaves some lacings.

S: Sweet light roasted malt. Faint chocoalate and bitter hops.

T: Bready, light roasted sweet malt. Chocolate and faint dark dried fruits. Kind of metallic. Lots of fruits.

M: Aftertaste is medium long and is both sweet and dry. Body as well as the carbonation is medium.

D: I really like Bockbiers, this is a nice one. If you'll get your hands on it try at least one!
