Notes / Commercial Description:
Each Halloween we release this special concoction to celebrate one of our favorite holidays. Deep blood-red in color, an intense aroma of pine and citrus from an abundance of American hops balances the sweetness and rich, bready flavors of this beer's caramel malts. The result is a fiendishly smooth brew that will make your taste buds scream with delight.

This beer pairs excellently with toffee, caramel apples, or your favorite horror flick.

More of a red IPA than an amber ale with the focus being on hop notes versus malt notes. Aroma has a little bit of caramel malt with lots of pine & hop cone. Taste is very earthy hop forward, with a supporting malt role that fails to assert itself convincingly. Solid beer but needed some more balance.

The beer pours a nice light brown head that is pretty foamy. The head lasts quite a while and fairly vigorous. The beer itself is a clear dark ruby and looks very nice. Definitely appealing.

The smell is good. It has a nice floral and lightly biter hop note but with a slightly stronger and sweet caramel note with a bit of roasted malt.

The taste is also good with a similar mix.

The feel is good with a medium body and nice heft that indicates that the beer has some body.

Overall good go for it.

This is a great SD brewery and I have really liked most of what I’ve tried from them. This red ale pours a deep dark amber color with a medium, foamy, tan head. The scent is mostly of pine with a little bit of citrus kicker. The malts have a pretty sweet caramel flavor, which is balanced by a piney grapefruit hop character, which is just perfectly done with very little lingering bitterness at all. The body is surprisingly fairly light given the dark color for a red and the full hop profile to make it easy drinking, but not so light that it is lacking in flavor by any means. They also manage to cover up a fairly high, for a red ale, 6.66% alcohol completely which is quite a feat. This is well deserving of its high rating among red ales.
