From a large shared bottle at RBWG-2015.
Rich imperial stout-like strong dark ale. Lightly sweet. Toffee

Feel: Full body with appropriate light carbonation.

Poured from the bottle into a nonic pint glass.

Thick four finger light tan creamy looking head, with some thick puck settling. Creamy yellow to tan and very light. Body is a deep mahogany red with some very nice hues.

Great toasty nose. Very noticeable dry powdered cocoa, a bit of sweet nutmeg, a little bit of acridity and spice. Definitely a very noticeable chocolate angle. Very inviting.

Palate manages to bring some goods. Nice coating malted body, almost creamy but just solid, with the chocolate moving towards milk on the finish, and some hop citrus oils slowly building on the swallow. Some of that acrid sourness is slightly noticeable in the mid palate, but doesn't hang around for much. Spicy hot towards the end also.

Listed as a sort of Roggenbier, which it seems to share more to style a bit. Overall not bad either way.

A: Beautiful coffee brown body with deep ruby highlights when held up to the light. Light tan head recedes and leaves moderate lacing on the glass.

S: Earthy coffee, dark chocolate, and sweet malt. A tick of bready rye. Beautiful nose.

T: Spicy/astringent rye malt, a hint more coffee, and roasty and bitter dark malt.

M: Medium/full bodied and lightly carbonated. Slick texture coats the palate.

O: Great example of a brown ale. Not my favorite style in the world but probably the best example I've had.
