Notes / Commercial Description:
Orange X is a fresh new take on our classic Extra Pale Ale. We combined the crisp, light balance and generous hop profile of X - Extra Pale Ale with the bright juicy citrus character of oranges as a tasting room exclusive here in San Diego. The positive response was so overwhelming that we decided to trust in our fans by putting it into cans. Orange X is for the people!

06/06/17 can date. Pours a hazy golden orange with two fingers of off white head that settles to a persistent film with good lacing. Fine particulates are visible in suspension. Aroma comes across as orange cream soda and baby aspirin. Taste has a sharp orange zest and orange rind flavor that seems chalky, and again reminds me of baby aspirin. Piney hop flavor with a good deal of chalky and mineral like bitterness that lingers i to the dry finish. Mouthfeel is crisp, light and refreshing. Well made but the orange citrus flavors were too sharp and pronounced for my taste.

L: drops into the glass hazy gold with rapidly rising bubbles under a 1.5" lacy cream colored foam cap with good retention

S: Added orange peel and flavors dominate the nose but allow bread crumb and citrusy hop aromas to come through.

T: The added flavors work with the X-Extra pale ale flavors drawing support from the malt flavors and accenting the citrus flavors provided by the hops. the malt and hop flavors are medium.

F: The beer is nice and creamy with a medium body and carbonation

O: AleSmith packs a lot of flavor into a beer with moderate alcohol

12 oz can with a canning date of June 2017.
Pours with a lightly hazed, orange-amber body and a good white head. Good retention and lacing.
Orange rind dominates the aroma and mixes with notes of orange juice, biscuits and faint hops in the flavor. Low bitterness for style.
Medium body and lively carbonation.
Overall: very juicy and easy drinking.

Poured from a 12 OZ can into a pint glass. The appearance is a light orange color with a medium sized white head. The aroma is oranges, hops and some bread. The taste mirrors the nose.

Pours a clear light orange, with fine, low foam.

Smells like a piney Orangina, crazy amounts of orange here.

Taste is very much like the nose, a more bitter orange soda with a bit of pine thrown in.

Mouthfeel is medium, well carbonated.

Overall, a very refreshing pale ale that stands out because of the ridiculous amount of orange on the nose and taste.

It pours hazy light orange color with huge long lasting off-white head. Some nice lacing. Aroma is fairly fruity; orange, mandarin and pine. Slightly toasted sweet malts are in background. Taste is very good example for an APA; softly balanced, but slightly hoppy bitterness comes in end. It tastes like orange juice with soft bitterness and slight alc. Very dry finish is remarkable. No astringency or harshness on palate; it's very easy to drink. Low bodied and effervescent. Refreshing. Very good example for its style.

A: The beer is slightly hazy yellow in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a two finger high white head that died down, leaving a large patch of bubbles on the surface, a narrow collar around the edge of the glass, and lots of lacy rings of bubbles running down the sides.
S: Moderate aromas of freshly sliced oranges are present in the nose.
T: The taste is packed with lots of orange flavors with underlying notes of the pale ale and a light amount of bitterness.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied and slightly crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: The orange aromas and flavors in this beer are quite intense—almost like the intensity of orange flavors in an orange soda. I really liked how the orange aromas and flavors seemed to be all natural.

Can poured into a Mountain Rambler Brewing Co pint glass

A: Pours golden amber with a frothy off white head that settles to a firm layer and leaves some light lacing.

S: Bright zesty citrus, orange comes through big time, floral, a little pine, crackery malt, and light honey sweetness.

T: Bright lively orange leads the parade, more citrus, lemon, and grapefruit, grassy, floral, some spicy pine, faint hints of tropical fruit, crackery malt, and a little honey sweetness.

M: On the lighter side of medium body, moderate carbonation.

O: The orange comes through beautifully. Nice summer beer.

Six pack copped from Bottle King in Livingston. Pours a translucent, orange hue with moderate frothing. Assertive aroma replete with hints of citrus and orange. Similar overall flavor profile.
