Notes / Commercial Description:
Don’t spend this Single Awareness Day alone – grab a beer! This red-blooded cousin of Evil Dead Red Ale, our Halloween Brew, is a beautiful crimson color. Notes of caramel, toast, and bittersweet chocolate balance an intense bouquet of floral hop aromas that we know you’ll fall in love with. The finish leaves a pleasant, full-bodied sweetness on the palate that won’t spread angry rumors about you to all your friends like that one time when I was…ohh…uhh…Happy Valentine’s Day!

Hazy, reddish brown color. Creamy tan head with solid retention and streak lacing. Aroma is light caramel malt with herbal and earthy qualities. The flavor is similar, with some pine and floral notes. Resinous and bitter from the hops in the aftertaste. A good beer overall.

Pours a deep brown color with two fingers of fluffy white head and nice lacing

Smells of biscuit with nice floral bouquet

Fairly robust malt profile, with a little graham cracker and citrus. Not a huge amount of layering/depth, the flavors show progression

Above average carbonation and bitterness

Pour is very dark brown with a reddish hue, great foam and lacing. Smells of hops and smoky sweets almost a candy smell. The taste is very enjoyable, getting a lot of caramel, smoke, hops, citrus, and minimal floral. Overall this is a very smooth but full flavored beer, lots going on but everything balanced out to make it a good beer on a cool night. Well done, would drink again.

Look: fairly dark brown and somewhat muddy in appearance, one to two fingers worth of parchment yellow head, minimal lacing, no legs.

Smell: toast, caramel malt, cereal, bittersweet chocolate. The initial nose brings a good dose of floral hops which really offset these aromas nicely.

Taste: a decided cereal finish almost like fruit loops but not quite that sugary, bitterness from the hops was a touch piney and balanced the malts well. Hoppy ambers are so great, looking at you nugget nectar.

Feel: moderately full body, some mouth coating sweetness but not sticky, well carbonated without being prickly which would not have gelled with the toasty flavors.

Overall: would definitely buy again, decent value at $10 for a bomber relative to other 22 oz bottlings.

Pours a deep reddish color with a thick, off-white, head that dissipates very slowly. Smells malty with floral hops and a touch of citrus. Taste is a little hop bitterness and some fruit up front, a brief malt, then fades into a little bitterness and fruit again. A little heavy for an ale. Solid, but not impressive.

L – Dark amber to ruby color; perfectly clear. Light tan head is sticky and persistent, as is the lacing on the glass.

S – Floral hops dominate. Low malt and a spicy note in the background.

T – Flavors follow the aromas, with strong hops bitterness and fruity hops flavor in the front. Some malt, but muted. Strong hops flavor and bitterness surge again toward the end. Fairly dry finish.

F – Medium body. Slightly harsh carbonation. Strong hops bitterness that seems harsh against the other qualities. Moderate alcohol presence.

O – Overall a harsh bitterness and flavor are too assertive for me.

Dark reddish copper with a moderate beige head that retains for a good while.

Spicy aromas with spent grain malt. The spice is almost cinnamon, but unidentifiable.

Flavors of raisin, toffee, and big bready malts.

This has very heavy feel to it, you can feel it hit the gut, which is odd for a 6%.

A: This poured a nearly opaque mahogany with a little tan head.
S: It smelled like roasted barley and copper hops, with some citrus zest.
T: It tasted like earthy caramel and roasted barley, with some copper and citrus hops. It had a clean bitter aftertaste.
M: It was watery with a little carbonation. Decent body.
D: This was a nice red ale with basic scent and taste. The body was ok, but the finish was really smooth, so it was easy to drink. Nothing very impressive about this, but nothing wrong with it either. Just another average and forgettable drink, which is surprising from AleSmith.

L: Pours bright chestnut with ruby highlights producing a ¼” off white foam cap that quickly dissipates.
S: Fruit, light malt, dark sugars, faint fig and raisin.
T: Spicy with coffee, dark dried fruit, a light malty sweetness up front that dries on the finish. Some caramel and toast with a touch of grainy astringency on the finish. The malt is medium high with a medium to medium high dark chocolate bitterness. Well balanced.
F: Very creamy medium to medium full body, medium carbonation, mild alcohol warming.
O: A very drinkable big beer.

Poured into a oversized wine glass. Bottled 12/1/15.

Deep honey mixed with a ruby red pour. Off white head with decent retention. Thin rings of lace circle the sides of the glass. Lots of caramel, spice, raisins, plums, and faint tropical fruit from the hops. Hop profile was pretty much faded. Caramel, toffee, and faint whiskey round out the taste profile. Very sweet taste from the malts. Very sweet, a bit chewy, and well balanced. Good Amber ale, but I'm missing the West Coast IPA characteristics. I was expecting a bit more.
