Notes: We can finally confirm eyewitness reports of a new Speedway Stout variant that has risen from the murky depths of our barrel cellar. We aged separate batches of our signature imperial coffee stout in maple syrup and Islay Scotch barrels, then blended them to perfection. This beer boasts a rich chocolate and delicate maple-sweetness flavor profile, with subtle hints of vanilla, oak, and smoke from the barrel-aging process.

Poured into a snifter. Viscous and opaque on the pour with a small tan head that left wispy tracks. This blend surprised me with distinctive maple and scotch aroma. Faint coffee and chocolate were there as well. Not at all boozy. The taste followed nicely. Scotch was the most prominent with maple there along the way and up front on the finish. In the back was rich coffee and chocolate roasted malt. Again, not as boozy as I expected. Really nice with a great barrel presence.

Gorgeous black beer with a light brown head. A few random ribbons of lacing stick to the glass. The aroma is initially dark fruit and chocolate up front with sweetness. A deep breath brings out the maple, spicy scotch and a wisp of smoke. Sweet and smoky flavor gives way to the scotch, oak, vanilla and chocolate flavors. There is a nice warming heat at the end. This is a damn fine experience in a bottle.

A Speedway Stout blend where half the beer is aged in maple syrup barrels and the other half is aged in Islay whisky barrels. The idea here is to tone down the peat with some sweet maple and for the most part, Alesmith pulls it off. Its a little smoky with just a hint of sweetness. If anything, it could use a tiny bit more barrel richness but this is still a world class beer nonetheless. This should see distro.

Bottle poured into a snifter.

Pours near black with a thin brown head.

Nose: coffee up front with a strong showing of cocoa and dark fruit. Maple comes in towards the end with a very subtle touch of smoke.

Taste: Maple syrup in the forefront followed by coffee and dark chocolate. Scotch is very subtle with mild smokiness and a touch of peat. More maple on the finish along with some lingering heat.

Feel: full-bodied, low carbonation.
