Fantastic beer from Alesmith. I had a bottle on 10/24 that was bottled on 10/2. Very fresh.

It pours a dark copper, very transparent and not murky at all. It tasted extremely refreshing. The bitterness was perfectly blended with some sweet citrusy notes. It smells as good as it tastes, too. This is easily one of the more "complete" IPAs that I have had. I don't have a single complaint about it. I think it is very well done and I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys IPAs and DIPAs

Pours golden amber slightly hazy with a tawny foamy head that persists until glass is empty and leaves thick lacing. Super attractive, unbelievable lacing.

Smells of tangerines, pine resin and caramel malt.

Taste is citrus fruit like tangelos and tangerines, light pine resin, light tropical notes, mildly bitter overall with a definite malt backbone here that is bready-caramelly in character. Finish seems a little more bitter along with grapefruit and orange rind flavors. Yet once again a smooth creamy malt keeps it in check.

Medium body. Creamy mouthfeel. Nice level of carbonation. Very nicely crafted body/beer here.

Overall is very drinkable and tasty IPA, thirst quenching.

From a 650 ml bottle (bottled October 2, 2013) into a tulip.

A-A slightly aggressive pour produces three fingers of eggshell-colored head with good (four-plus minutes) retention. Lacing is also impressive with chunky rings on the glass. The beer is sort-of mundane beneath, however, with an orange-golden hue and some fine carbonation visible in the liquid.

S-The smell is juicy with suggestions of peach, orange citrus zest, mango, hints of herbs, and a toasted bready malt. Bitterness is medium. A nice and inviting aroma.

T-The taste loses much of the juicy fruit in favor of a somewhat harsh and medicinal alcoholic note. The hops are vegetal, herbal, earthy, and possess only a trace of the fruit I got on the nose. The malts are more prevalent, too, but I wouldn't call this one balanced. The finish is long, drying, and earthy.

M-The feel is medium heft with a moderate amount of carbonation. There is a slightly dank feel, but it doesn't ever get oily.

O-While this brew impresses with looks and smell, the taste was a letdown. It is somewhat harsh and disjointed. It is as if the beer has an identity crisis between being a juicy, west-coast IPA and a bitter, pine-forward English IPA. The West Coast style emerges on the nose, but neither style comes out on the palate. I don't know where all the delicious fruit that I smell went when I drank this beer, but I miss it.
