750 mL bottle poured into a teku glass.
Near black with a half inch light brown head.
Nose: Interesting mix of coffee, peat, and rum. Wasn’t sure this would work but the two barrels balance each other out nicely.
Taste: Peat and smoke up front from the scotch followed by coffee. Sweetness from the rum comes in on the finish before the scotch takes over and lingers on the palate. There is a lot of complexity here and it actually manages to stay very well balanced.
Feel: Very full-bodied, medium carbonation.

Rum and Scotch sounds like a potentially dangerous combo but you've got to hand it to the folks at Alesmith, this works. This beer is a nice mix of peat and sweet; the two together help keep each other from overpowering the beer. The ends result is a rich, luscious beer that pours almost black, little carbonation and you can tell its a boozy beast but it does so very subtly. Nice work.
