Style: American Double / Imperial IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 8.50%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Also known as YuleSmith (Summer)

Every year we anxiously await the warmer months to unleash this Double IPA, the summer edition of our former YuleSmith seasonals. The flavor imparts orange, grapefruit, and tangerine hop notes with earthy, spicy, and resinous pine undertones. A sturdy malt backbone balances out the profound hop bitterness to create a refreshingly assertive and vibrant beer that offers an unapologetically bold expression of fresh American hops.

YEAR ROUND: No – July / August

A-Interesting Color for an Imperial IPA. Much lighter, golden almost straw with a white foam.

S-Red fruit, grassy hops, nutty

T-Much more typical of an IPA. Hefty dark grassy flavors dominate.

M-Heavy, full body. Good finish with a hint of vanilla at the end.

O-The finish and the vanilla really bump it up away from the 'just average' category for me. Not bad, but that's definitely the stand out.

Thanks Joe for sharing! Served in a mini pint taster.
Bright saturated orange, super sharp clarity. Lasting surface coverage for the rest of the glass. A halo of lace around the edges.

Caramelized malts, candied orange, firmly bitter in the finish. Smells subdued and malty though this just showed up in downstate IL. Clean with a piney bitterness, lots of caramel malt. Medium bodied, kind of heavy. Overall pretty meh, not bad but it comes off like an old DIPA.
