Style: American Double / Imperial IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 8.50%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Also known as YuleSmith (Summer)

Every year we anxiously await the warmer months to unleash this Double IPA, the summer edition of our former YuleSmith seasonals. The flavor imparts orange, grapefruit, and tangerine hop notes with earthy, spicy, and resinous pine undertones. A sturdy malt backbone balances out the profound hop bitterness to create a refreshingly assertive and vibrant beer that offers an unapologetically bold expression of fresh American hops.

YEAR ROUND: No – July / August

Reminds me of 90 minute. With that licorice taste. It's also very citrusy and a bit piney. I'd like to see this fresher but this good stuff

A 12oz bottle picked up at the brewery, with a bottled on date of 4.16.16

L - Yellow/copper, with some clarity, 2 fingers of head and HUGE lacing left on the top of the brew and all over the glass

S - Dry hopped, citrus, tangerine

T - Insanely hoppy and well balanced, between citrus and pine. So smooth, and hidden ABV.

F - Well carbonated, medium body. oily and smooth

O - An amazingly tasty, smooth, well balanced DIPA. Alesmith rocks it

Really loved there regular ipa and this one dosent disappoint. Very nice darker appearance and a nice floral smell. This is how I like my ipas. Too many of the new ipas today are brewed with fruit juices and kind of turn me off. This is a perfect example of a tropical flavored ipa without the fruit juicyness. Very well done.

This one has an orange colored appearance, and a 3/4" off white head. The aroma drops tons of pine. An immense amount.

Taste is both citrus and pine, not excessively bitter. I don't like the bomber format, its expensive. No bottle dating. Some inconsistency between the minor malt variation from summer and winter. I dunno, its a good beer, but its not that usual dry west coast malt bill, this has crystal and its sticky. The hops are on point though. Lush.

Alesmith always has great 22 bottles, however, the 12oz bottles are not as great tasting than its bigger counterpart.

the saving grace in ale smith attempt to breach into 12 oz market it will be lead by it's their Double IPA.
