Bottle: Poured a dark brown color ale with a nice large foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of dry fruits and caramelized sugar with light fruity ester is quite enjoyable. Taste is also dominated by caramelized sugar with dry raisins note, light fruity ester and well balanced residual sugar notes. Body is about average for style with good carbonation and surprisingly no apparent alcohol. Well balanced and very enjoyable for the style. Brewer should think about brewing again and maybe giving it a barrel treatment.

Poured into a Gavroche tulip. 2012 bottle, properly cellared. Pours a very dark red-orange with a fine half finger light khaki head with great retention and lacing. Aroma dominated by crackery biscuit malt, with mild elements of dark fruit, and caramel. The profile is a lot like an English old ale aroma. Flavor is different, with dark dried fruit, particularly dates and figs and plums, brown bread, brown sugar, vanilla and caramel, much more in line with a quadrupel. Nice complex fruit and malt finish with light Belgian spicing. Medium bodied with light creaminess. Although clearly a quadrupel, the malt flavor, like the aroma leans towards a malty old ale; the combination of quad and old ale flavors is quite tasty. Complex and warming, although the ABV is well covered. I've been delighted with all the Decadence versions and this is no exception. Alesmith is a master of these malty big ales. Well done.

Cellared 3 years, drank on March 23, 2015.

Tastes more like an English Barleywine than anything else. I don't sense very many Belgian qualities at all. Also, there is surprisingly too much carbonation, despite the age.

The nose us wonderful with nice raisin and chocolate notes.

750 ml bottle was poured into a chalice.

Appearance: A one finger off white head was poured that reduced to a thin layer. It is a dark crimson color with no vision of anything. Pretty typical for a quad.

Smell: Raisins, figs, plums, and bananas followed by caramel, toffee, bready malts, and spicy Belgian yeast. Nice warm alcohol in there too.

Taste: Same as above. Dark fruits, nice malt flavor, and deceiving warm alcohol. Tasty and delicious.

Mouthfeel: Smooth, full bodied, warm boozy alcohol, a little chewy, a little sweet, and low to medium carbonation. Quite the sipper.

Overall: Wow. A bit sweet for a quad, but very enjoyable considering it is from 2012. I will look for more bottles from the store I got this. Could age for a longer time.

Tasted a lot more like an old ale than a quad to me.

Deep caramelized malt, toasted notes, and bourbon form the aroma.

Tastes like caramel corn, fairly sweet and vanilla dominant, with a touch of bourbon heat.
