On tap at Shepherd Park (Houston, TX), served in a shaker pint. Opens with plenty of citrus (satsuma, grapefruit), then eases into more pine resin and pale malt. Medium body with good carbonation. Nicely hopped and drinkable.

There were two versions of this available on my visit today -- one on the malty side and one on the hoppy side. I preferred the latter, but both were quality offerings. APAs are often passed over as run of the mill, but Town in City is on the right track, whichever route they take.

On tap at the brewery, 8/12/15. Sadly, found little to like about this one. The flavor and feel were both very chalky, which I found a little of in other beers, but in this it was catastrophic. The color was way too dark to be a pale ale, and the flavor overly malty - almost cerealy, like it was unfermented. In all, not something I could finish, nor something I can return to.

On tap at the brewery in Houston, TX.
A: Pours a clear reddish color. A two finger white head forms with good retention and lace.
S: A big maltiness up front and center. Almost like wort, then a lingering bitterness. Not unpleasant at all, but maybe a bit unfinished.
T: Like the nose, lot of malty sweetness going on. Which I usually love. Though the malty character is that of the unfermentables you get while walking through a brew house. Eventually that cleans up and becomes more bitter grapefruit in the finish.
M/O: A medium body that is well carbonated. Smooth, if a bit unrefined, which is the biggest detriment here. Not hard to drink at all, a good malty pale, if again, unrefined.
Talking to some of the people at the bar, there seems to be a few different versions here. One was too hoppy, this is a big malt bomb. While I am a malt head, this does seem a little unrefined. While I did enjoy the offering, this does need a little tweaking.
