This beer to me is a bit underrated. Had this at the hotel bar at the Hilton in Athens. The color was a pale golden yellow as you might expect from a Euro lager, as well as a similar mouthfeel. The taste has a fruitiness to it though that I think separates it from the rabble of common Euro lagers. Very refreshing on a warm summer night.

This light coloured lager offering , I expect has no pretensions held for it by the erstwhile brewers.
It is well carbonated and crisp and befits joyful consumption in an atmosphere of grilled lamb and octopus.
Yeah , its simple plain and drinkable , but not a reason totravel to Greece for

Clear deep blonde colour, one finger of crackling white head, not much in the way of lace. Smell is clean and malty, a bit of noble grassy hop, but mostly grainy biscuit. Taste is malty, again grainy with a bit of biscuit/cracker flavour, light lingering bitterness, grassy mid palate, wahes away clean with not much aftertaste. Medium carbonation, light bodied but substantial in feel. A nice easy drinking lager, far from top of the style but certainly better than its current rating would suggest though.

330ml bottle, poured into Stone snifter.

A: Dark golden, decent sized head which didn’t hang around for very long, a few bubbles but didn’t look overly lively.

S: Fairly malty, notes of corn syrup.

T: Strong malt backbone, hints of grain and other adjuncts.

M: Thick texture for the style, low to medium carbonation, fairly smooth.

O: A typical Euro Lager, good hot weather beer.

500ml bottle from Yiamas, Glasgow (£3.25):
Medium amber with a decent sized, bubbly white head on top, although it did take an aggressive pour.

Corn & light hops with a refreshing, grassy hop aroma, with some lemon & other citrus notes. Not all that bad really but not that strong on the nose either.

Light tasting with corn, citrus & grassy hops plus a sweetness throughout with a tiny bit of skunk right at the end.

Light bodied with a slight citrus tang on top of medium carbonation and a refreshing taste with hints of skunk towards the finish.

Not a bad attempt at a macro pale lager, the beer was enjoyable enough and the refreshing mouthfeel certainly helped this some. Not all that great but certainly better than expected.

Fix Helles (GR)
330ml can purchased and consumed with dinner in Athens, GR.

Clear amber body has low carbonation but a relatively dark color for style.

Aroma: about equal levels of malts and hops. Sweet.
Flavor: tiny bit less malts than hops.

O: slightly better than Heineken; substantially better than Tiger (Singapore).

Pours a thin head on a clear light straw body.
The aroma is dry grains and honey.
The taste has a slight metallic bitterness, a touch of honey and finishes with a mild lemon bitterness.
The texture is crisp and fizzy.
Fine.

From the country where the founts of Western thought first flowed, Greece is the tap source of another great treasue; Fix Hellas Lager. This Hellenic brew is bilt off of its country deep meanifulness that is traced back to the days of antiquity and could be seen as a necessary addition to any Republic. Pours a crystal clear straw golden haziness with a white frothing head leaving a full trickled lace within each sip of this well traveled beer. My friend brought me back this sample of beer from a trip to Greece and I am thankful to be touched by it's grace. The aroma is characteristic of many European lagers with the slight skunk cabbage hops with a sharp full sweetness to the front. A great tasting crisp flavor that so good in fact if I where a Greek citizen I would have to get my Fix everyday. Great overall lemongrass sweetness that goes down easily with a slight grainy bitter finish, very nice hot weather beer. Definitely on my list of exotic beers light in body and fully carbonated to provide the crisp cooling down sensation in every sip of this Grecian creation. I would definitely partake in this beer while visiting the island without a doubt, ranks higher than any American mass produced beer without a doubt in my book.

Bought at a Coop in Santorini - so it has to be good. Opened at midnight while I enjoyed the views so no way this review will be bad. Overall your European mass lager. You know what you get. Nothing great but not worth throwing away (I am copywriting that motto ....so be warned Fix). A bland boring beer. I will buy more though. Jesus Santorini is nice

330 ml can poured into a mug. Kaliviani, Crete, Greece.

A- Clear and gold. Light however, nearing yellow. White head retains at a small pad.

S- Dull toast. A little metallic aroma. Hops are earthy, but there is this slight fruity layer to it. Almost has a Belgian yeast aroma, but not quite.

T- Mild malt, but fairly forward in the beer. Hops not so detectable, a little earthy.

M- Clean and wet. Slight bitterness lingers.

O- The aroma is different than most. I think this is a better choice than the more popular Mythos.

From bottle, Sweet malty and grainy with corn and hay/straw, light body with a watery texture. The finish is dry, bitter and sweet malty. Ok for a lager.

Nearly no head. No lace. Golden color -- not too light. Clear.

Grainy, unmalted barley aroma. I don't get the thin adjunct smell.

Grainy, slightly sweet initial taste. The swallow draws out a bit of cream. Thin body with a muted carbonation level. No hop noted. For a macro, this isn't too bad,but I would not normally get this beer.

Pours a bright pale yellow color with a pretty good white head.

Aromas are kind of doughy and sweet.

Tastes fizzy, with some bread dough flavors, and a little sweetness. Finish is dry with mineral hops flavors.

Mouthfeel is not bad, maybe a little over carbonated.

Drinkability is decent. Just another run of the mill lager that I found in Greece. Nothing offensive, but nothing really good either.

Pours a clear light golden color with white head. Cereal grains on the nose; follows onto the palate. Light bodied. Finishes the same. Typical lager style beer. Easy drinking.

A very pale yellow colour, almost towards the lght colouration, but still could have been better coloured for a higher rating. The head was lasting, which lasted about fifteen (15) minutes before discipating.

Smell was fairly descent, with hops most definitely present, and fairly well balanced.

Taste was well hopped and certainly no preservatives or bisulphites present. The feel and drinkability are slightly less than the taste due to the overcarbonation and under-fermentation for the style. Descent beer, well priced, and good Greek heritage.

Got it from Greece,0,5l bottle.

A-First few seconds is good, but after, there is nothing, really nothing in the glass. Dark pale col,or,almost as IPA. One finger high white foam, lasting for few seconds. Very low carbonation.

S-usual for EPL.

T/M-Carbonation is high, spritzy. Taste is watery with low bitterness, medium sweetness.

O-Pass it,nothing special.

Do colours have feelings? I don't know what I equate with green or purple, but yellow - bright yellow in particular - always makes me think of happy summer days. And although I'm still looking at snowbanks outside my window, the clear, light-golden complexion of Fix Hellas has me thinking warm weather.

The aroma is mostly grainy-sweet but has a very minor grassiness. It also has a soggy cereal flavour - right down to the refined white sugar - that, frankly, I find a little off-putting (I've always been a butter and toast man, myself). It's not offensive but it certainly leaves much to be desired.

Hellas is the native name for Greece. 'Helles' is the German word for 'light' and in brewing refers to a style of lager that's especially smooth and clean tasting. While Fix Hellas may be in the same vein, and despite that it's a clever play on words, the two should not be confused. This is an adjunct lager.

What's the difference? A proper Helles Lager is distinguished by its squeaky-clean and scrumptious malt profile; lesser made industrial lagers are cut with corn syrup that make them overly sweet and foul tasting. This beer definitely tastes more like stale corn bread than oven-fresh, crusty, country loaf.

I wouldn't have bought Fix Hellas if it weren't on discount. Even still, I don't think I'd be willing to again spend $1.75 on a bottle unless they throw in a trip to Mykonos, or at least a free gyro or something. While likely bland and familiar enough to suit most peoples' tastes, I couldn't find any appeal.

Purchased this in summer when i was visiting Santorini with my wife

L: light gold in color, gives almost no head at all when i pour in the glass

S: sweet malts ,some hints of hops , citrus. Not much aroma on this beer

T & F:Malt seem to dominate, i can find som hints of hops in the taste but it is not very strong nut a little in the aftertaste who by the way disappear very fast

O: nothing much to write about this beer, a boring industrial lager, taste and aroma is nothing to write home about. But when that is said: when i am in greece in 30 C sun i can easily down a couple of those, and it is far better than a lot of other famous industrial lagers, back home i would never buy this beer.

Euro classic lager nose but plenty of cereals. The taste is fairly neutral, with a touch of spice that adds non-negligible a few bodies in a slightly lower drink without making it extraordinary. Finish low enough, just the presence of a little wheat and most importantly, easy to drink quite interesting.

Poured a fairly standard medium-yellow with a big but lose head which died immediately.

Nose is nothing much in particular. A bit of citrus perhaps some grass. OK for what is is.

Palate much the same. Tastes like a mass-produced lager but with more flavour than your average beer. Bitterness is low.

Mouth is typical. Fizzy.

I found it fairly refreshing but otherwise pretty boring. Average for the style.

Not recommended.

Asked a roommate to bring me back a Greek beer from her vacation and here I am.

Not bad, shows sign of a Munich helles and differences from a Euro pale or American macro. The aroma isn't anything special, it's just cheap and sweet. That flavor however, does have some grassy hops in the background of the light and bland malt body. Not a bad beer for vacation I guess.

I got this beer from Mrs. Brabander when she was on holidays on Krete.

Poured in my Struise glass the beer looks normal. Decent white head with no carbonation.

Smell is not pleasant. It smells like a wet cellar in the morning.

Taste is not spectacular to say the least. Very twisted taste with a dryness at the end.

Next time Mrs. Brabander goes to Krete she can leave this beer on the isle!

Haha the last of the greek brews I had decided to keep for a while after purchase (dec. 2003) for no particular reason. One day, it popped out of the fridge and into my glass. Magical? not in a million years.

This brew, honouring the rest of its hellenic macro colleagues, pours its boring straw white head translucid appearance as so to say "hey, look, I'm a lager". Boo-freakin-hoo, the smell is very slight and rather uninterestingly wheaty, and guess what? The taste, closer to a bad pilsen than to a simple crap lager, is rather metallic and definet rubbish. Ugh. Greeks.

I worked in a lab and it tastes and smells of something, not sure what but I think it was a phenolic compound. Bland and sticks to the palate. Strangely not so refreshing for a Greek beer. I prefer the more refreshing Mythos or Alpha beers which can be quite good on draught.

I am not fixed. I can drink this, but the aftertaste is of some sort of mass produced cheap candy. Like one of those fake strawberry sucker things that you get from the desk of a dry accountant in an attempt to keep you awake while the tax-ponzi scheme sucks away your precious time, and at only a quarter cent a piece what can go wrong. Right? Wrong. It is the aftertaste....the stickiness of the sugar but it was not sugar.
