Cool casual seafood spot in Royal Oak. Decent beer, usually 6-8 house brewed beers. Standard to style beers pair pretty well with the food. Selection rotates with the season. They have a stout that goes pretty well with any of their creamy or chocolate dessert selections. First stop on a 10 brewpub in 10 days visit to Michigan!

Stopped by Lily's for one beer and found it to be more of a restaurant than a brewpub. Was the IPA I tried good? Sure it was. Was it great? Not really. The bar was a typical restaurant bar. The entire experience was dripping with nothing special sauce but if you are in the area, it's worth a quick stop.

Food looked good, the place was clean enough, sports on TV in the bar, the waiters wore pants...all the usual stuff one would expect at a restaurant that brews it's own beer.

I am biased since I worked here for about 9 months several years ago. However, whenever I find myself back in Royal Oak I make a point to stop here for beer, brunch, or dinner.

The service is quick and attentive without overly smothering, and the food is off the hook. I know the boys pay a great amount of attention to the beer, and brew classic styles. That being said, they do not do much experimental brewing, and tend to create wonderful specimens of the styles they choose. For that, and for the overall consistency of the beer, I give them major props.

Not a destination, per say, but if you find yourself in Royal Oak, it's a great respite from the douchebaggy bars that surround this particular part of town. And, be sure to eat!

I visited during a weeknight and the place really did not have much of a vibe to note. It is probably because the place seemed to be more focused on the food than the beer, but I think that they could have applied a little more care to both. They had about 8 beers on tap, a Red Ale, Pilsner, a Dunkle, a couple of wheat beers and an IPA, possibly a few others. Not a great selection, but not horrible either. The beer seemed to be done right, but all of them that I tried tasted weak. I tried Sven & Ollie's IPA, the Willoughby's Witbier and the Meade Island Munich (Dunkle). The witbier was the best of the 3, but nothing to really note to make it stand out. The service was good, somewhat knowledgeable about the beer. Overall, the food was bland and the beer was average. Not much else to say.

A seafood brew-pub in northern Detroit just sounds like a recipe for disaster. Totally skeptical to come here after Olga found this place. Thankfully, we did and this place was a stunner. Its not your typical brew pub, this place is more about the food, the beer seems to be an afterthought or hobby. The atmosphere is pretty weak and chessy with fish tanks and weird old decorations on the wall....The service was average, not beer knowledgeable, not friendly overall... The beer was above average brew pub fare. They had 5 regulars and 3 seasonals available. The serve them as a sampler for like 8 bucks, great deal, except when you see the serving sizes, 2ozs at best. They come on a nifty menu with descriptions, bonus. I didn't note any bottles or guest drafts, didn't ask though. The food is very good seafood, shocked again.

A very pleasant experience, I would come back. The beer is good, so is the food.

Lily's, as others mentioned, is a seafood restaurant first and a brewpub second. Their generous happy hour runs from 2pm-6pm on the weekdays and 11am-6pm on Saturdays. All pints are $2.00 during happy hour and appetizers are discounted as well. I've been several times and have yet to stray from their IPA. It is true to style and one of my local favorites.

Service has been attentive and friendly. On my most recent visit my server was unable to answer a few questions I had on the styles that were available, but she quickly provided a printed list describing what was on tap. If you ever find yourself in Royal Oak, Lily's is well worth a stop.

Stopped in here between Christmas and the New Year after a full afternoon at Bastone. Things were separated into the bar area and dining room, plenty of space, with the brewing equipment clearly displayed at the rear of the dining room. There was a cool aquarium near our table containing a large eel - at first we though it was a decoration until we noticed it breathing. Very cool.

We grabbed a couple of appetizers, which were pretty good. We had some crab cakes and lobster fritters, which paired well with the beer. Service was excellent. Our server was fast and attentive, friendly too, cracking a few jokes with my friend, plus she had a firm grasp of the beer and food menu.

There were seven beers available: pilsner, red ale, hefeweizen, oatmeal stout, English brown, schwarzbier, and IPA. Samplers were available, roughly a 2oz pour of each beer, for $4. Beers were of good quality, solid across the board. I believe pints were ~$3.50 and they also served halfs (always a plus). Growler fills were also available.

I'd definitely come back to try more beer as well as a full lunch or dinner.

Lily's has a nice milieu; it's not overly dark like some bars are. It's more of a restaurant than a bar. While the beer is not outstanding, the prices are very good. 1 dollar pints on Monday nights from 8PM-Midnight, the crowd there was mostly young people when I went on Monday. Me and my friends had no trouble finding a table to sit down at around 11:00PM but it was fairly packed. During the day it was mostly an older crowd.

The beer is good, especially for the price. I liked their Hefe the best and their Red Ale was pretty good too. They also have a "cheap eats" menu during Happy Hour (2-6 PM) that looked really good. 4 dollars for Crab Cake Sliders sounded enticing.

I love Lily's for a nice dinner and a brew.

Happy hour specials and Monday nights are just amazing... you can't go wrong.

The atmosphere is cozy and nice with lots of fishtanks and a nice bar. It's a little dark, but relaxing and not overly imposing.

The quality of beer is good, with nothing really standing out, but nothing being that bad, either. I normally drink their IPA, which is a nice representation of the style.

The service is hit or miss, depending on the night and amount of people. I've had impecable service as well as unmistakably bad service, so I really think it depends on the server. The bartenders are all wonderful, though.

They only have about 5-6 beers on tap but what they do they do well.

The food is AMAZING, and I've yet to be let down with their offerings. I highly recommend the calimari, and smoked salmon dip.

All in all, if you're looking for a good dinner date with your significant other, OR a place to find a cheap pint of craft beer, look no further.

I've lived within 10 minutes of this place for about 3 years and finally got to stop in for some dinner and beer. I was lucky to sit facing the huge wall with the old Stroh's advertisment painted into the brick.

I got a sampler that included all 6 beers they had on tap at the time, and I liked 5 of them. The one I didn't like was the Golden Ale because it had a powerful diacetyl buttery flavor. The other 5 included the Red Ale, IPA, Wheat, Scotch Ale and Porter/Stout. All of them were good representations of their styles except for the Stout, which they acknowledge is a hybrid mix of Porter and Stout.

The food was great and priced reasonably by Royal Oak standards. This would be a nice place to celebrate happy hour if I ever got out of work at a reasonable time.

Went to Lily’s while in the Detroit area for business. Since Royal Oak was close to where I was staying thought I would hit the second (of three) brewpub in that area. This place is next to a number of other stores and restaurants. When you walk in you can see the bar area to the right and then restaurant seating straight ahead. Nice sized bar area, which was pretty full due to happy hour when I was there. I think that their happy hour runs till 7 and they have $2.00 drafts of their own beer. The bar area has three flat screen tv’s around the bar and is a little dark. They have quite a bit of seating around the bar and a number of high tops around the bar as well. I did not really get a great look at the dining area but from what I did see it looked quite large. Around the bar the décor is nice, fish/seafood type place look and feel but a little upscale. The food was very good, and the beer was not disappointing. So over all it was a very good experience and if I am in the area again I would probably stop back in to get something different than just pub food.

I visited on a cold and rainy Thursday in eary March 2007. This visit completed my overview of all three brewpubs in Royal Oak. They're all within walking distance and not that different in terms of the overall quality of their beers (pretty good rating).

Lily's is a place that is food first and beer second. They had about 5 beers on tap - wheat, red, brown, lager, and stout. I had the wheat and brown which were both good, not exceptional.

My friend and I both ate meals here and found the seafood to be of very good quality. Plenty of items to choose from on the menu. The decor is also very nice and it's a pretty big place.

The brewery is located in the back in a small glass enclosed area. It's underwhelming in terms of size but pretty cool when you consider they make the effort to brew their own beers.

Just visited Lily's Seafood and Brewpub last friday night. I thought this place was rather nice. It's located in downtown Royal Oak, Michigan. Royal Oak is kind of know as a party town in D-town, but this place seemed rather layed back and upscale. Given, I was there from 5:30 until around 7:45, so maybe the atomosphere may have picked up later on. I went with my fiancee because she loves to try new beers as much as I do and because it was our anniversary and she LOVES seafood...so I figured Seafood and Beer you really can't go wrong. We both had a very nice dinner that was very well prepared, lobster, crab cakes, fillet...and several other nice things. The meal was very good, but plan on dropping quit a wad of cash if you go there to eat all meals range between $20 and $45 per person!!! They had 6 beers on tap and two homemade sodas. The light lager was very good and have a bit of fruitiness in the after taste, the amber was a bit bitter much in the same manner as a pale, but all and all pretty good, the stout that I had read so much about had been replace by a black lager, which tasted like a scaled down homebrew stout (probably the least impressive beer). The other beer that was part of there four they always have on tap is a wheat/weizen which I did not try because I'm a little past the stage in the year where wheats sound good. They also had two seasonal beers in which I did enjoy. A rye beer that well tasted like a rye beer...it had extradinary bite and was a nice wake up call after the the black lager. The final beer that I had was there Oktoberfest, which was very good and my fiancee's favorite of the night(it wasn't quit as malty as I like my German Lager's, but it was still very good. My fiancee also tried there homemade cream soda and I'm guessing she liked it alot because she had it down to ice in a minute or less. Happy Hour here is from 2-7 and is great....all pints $2. The service was nice bartender bought us both a beer because it was our anniversary. I would say this is a nice place to sit down and enjoy a meal if you want to get away from the party bars of Royal Oak....3.75.

Another nice brewpub that completes the downtown royal oak brewpub trifecta. Atmosphere is nice, definately more pub/bar like than the other two brewpubs in town. Light wood, a nice wooden bar, and an interesting cast of characters abounded during the wine walk that was taking place in downtown royal oak when we hit this place. Quality of the porter was very good, and at $2 a pop the prices and food prices at happy hour are unreal. Service was quick and friendly as well, and the food (lobster, et al) looked and smelled fantastic. I'd like to come back here for some grub.

This is the best seafood restaurant in Royal Oak and surounding area. They food is very good. I enjoy a bowl of their spicy Creole soup for lunch. Beer at Lily's is decent. For a small brewery they do well and I'd take one of their brews over a Bud any day. They offer a nice hoppy red ale, light lager, stout, wheat, and a seasonal (maybe more, can't remember). The atmosphere at Lily's is impressive with great decor. Tropical fish tanks, while not completely novel, add to the allure. If you are looking for a good seafood place and want to enjoy a good beer, then Lily's is a nice place. It is good to see more microbrews in Michigan and see them represented at the Michigan Beer Festival.
