The colour is amber-red (30 EBC), the liquid is clear. The four finger head is compact and off-white, it sinks slowly leaving some lacing on the glass.

The thick smell is sweet with caramel and toffee. Lemon marmalade and lemon acid. Hints of cabbage and alcohol.

The taste is sweet with caramel and bitter herbs. Cabbage and boiled vegetables in the background. Sharp bitterness in the background. Medium body. Growing alcohol, lemon acid, cabbage and bitter herbs in the aftertaste. Meat and caramel flavouring in the finish.

The carbonation is medium to strong, the mid-sized bubbles are smooth. The liquid is somewhat thick and a bit sticky.

Way too much off-flavours in this one.

Truncated impressions:

BOTTLE: Brown glass. Branded black pry-off cap. Busy green label. 33cl.

5.80% ABV. 45 IBU.

Served cold into a stangenglas in Tallinn, Estonia. Reviewed live as a session IPA per the label.

HEAD: Vigorous and healthy. Occupies ~85% of the glass. Off-white colour. Great overall consistency, with a nice even creamy soft look. Appealing, with a good complexion. Leaves no lacing as it recedes.

BODY: Murky copper of average vibrance. Translucent; nontransparent. No yeast is visible.

Average appearance for a session IPA. There're no unique or special characteristics here.

AROMA: Floral and grassy, seemingly propelled by Noble/Saaz hops. Clean pale malts.

Aromatic intensity is average. Overall, the hop profile is underwhelming. This doesn't promise a hop-forward and/or satisfying session IPA.

TASTE & TEXTURE: Follows the aroma, but suffers from imbalance, lacking adequate malt sweetness to balance the hop bitterness. Coating, smooth, medium-bodied, and wet. Average depth, duration, and intensity of flavour. The simple pale malt build ties it together, but the hop profile is fundamentally lacking - just boring floral and grassy hop notes.

Not a gestalt build for a session IPA, but a cohesive one. I do like this beer in spite of its flaws, but it leaves a lot to be desired. Not complex/intricate, subtly executed, or nuanced. Execution is pretty lacking.

OVERALL: Drinkable but underwhelming. It's a pretty middle-of-the-road session IPA, and won't impress the discerning drinker. But you could do worse for an attempt at the style, and I'll enjoy finishing it - even if I wouldn't buy it again. Hides its ABV well enough.
