Nice cloudy appearance with little thin whisps of froth on top. Color was a subdued yellow-orange murky enough that light almost was unable to fully penetrate it.

Smell was somewhat obscured by the over perfumed lady next to me at the bar but I could detect a heavy presence of strawberries.

Taste was as one would expect with an explosion of guava and mango followed by a bitterness and slightly pungent aftertaste that was quite crisp.

Mouthfeel was on the slightly watery side but no at all unpleasant.

Overall I enjoyed really enjoyed this brew at the Waikiki brew pub.

On draft at the Waikiki location. Honestly, with the addition of orange peel and strawberry, I think of it more as a Belgian Wit, modified. However, enjoyable brew and recommended in the warm atmosphere of Waikiki!

September 15th, 2015 - Hefweizens fit the island palate well, with a nice lightness and buoyancy that goes well the climate and food. This hefe has a very fruity starburst smell, rich with passion fruit guava notes and red grapes. It's an extremely sweet aroma, and almost like a dessert beer. The body is very thin, and maybe a little too thin which gives it a very thirst quenching quality. The flavors are exactly the same as the aroma, which makes it sweet and tastes a bit like Pez candies.

Got in a trade with The-Adjunct-Hippie. 12 ounce can into weizen glass, no can dating. Pours very hazy/cloudy golden orange color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of juicy/lightly tart strawberries, lemon, orange peel, honey, wheat, vanilla, and white bread dough; with light notes of banana, clove, pepper, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of fruits, pale/wheat malt, and light fruity/spicy yeast notes; with solid strength. Taste of juicy/lightly tart strawberries, lemon, orange peel, honey, wheat, vanilla, and white bread dough; with light notes of banana, clove, pepper, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Very mild herbal/grassy bitterness, yeast spiciness, and fruit tartness on the finish. Lingering notes of strawberries, lemon, orange peel, honey, wheat, vanilla, white bread dough, light banana/clove, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice robustness and balance of fruits, pale/wheat malt, and light fruity/spicy yeast flavors; with a nice malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitter/spiciness. Medium-plus carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready/grainy, and lightly sticky/acidic mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol for 5.8%. Overall this is a nice fruited American pale wheat ale. All around nice robustness and balance of fruit, pale/wheat malt, and light fruity/spicy yeast flavors; very smooth and refreshing to drink, with the mildly bitter/spicy/drying finish. Not a hefeweizen as I expected, but well made for a pale wheat ale. Balanced fruits, pale/wheat malts, and mild fruity/spicy yeast notes. Definitely has the American wheat yeast strain. A nicely enjoyable offering.

One more!

Hazy peach-mango blush with a thin ring of head that subsides to a nice ring of bubble.

Aromas of peach and strawberry, some wheat, ashy peppery yeast, and light banana.

Flavor is a bit 2 dimensional, but still tasty. Some light peach and mango fruit surface, with hints of orange. The ashiness also comes forward, with a sharp pepper, and ends on light bubble gum and soft wheat.

Feel is crisp and carbonated, with a slight lean towards dryness at the end.

An average Hefeweizen. Closer to a pale wheat ale due to the lack of overall sweetness and focus on pepper and yeast.

Pours light yellow like a Hefeweizen should.
Smell is very floral.
Taste is ok, little watered down.
Feel is light and floral.
Overall not bad, but the price and numerous choices of hefes leads me to believe I won’t purchase this again.

Golden banana color with a deep white haze. Small head, particularly for the style. Stone streaks for lace.

Sour aroma of lemons and bananas. Low on the wheat notes.

Mild start but the sour candy like flavors show up in the swallow. Good hop bitterness immediately after the swallow. Bitter sour aftertaste that lasts a moderate amount of time. Thicker than most hefeweizens but it's also well carbonated.

Pours an extremely hazy golden straw color. Minimal head that dissipates quickly. Smell is thick with strawberry and some orange peel. Taste reflects a classic hefe with nice strawberry taste, some hop taste as well (hopped with noble and tettnang). Medium mouthfeel with good carbonation. Bonus: they are brewing a batch at the brewery right now and it smells exquisitely of strawberry

On tap at Waikiki Brewing Company.

I liked the fact the ABV was higher for this style of beer. After initial sip I knew it was a hef, but with the addition of strawberry puree is what made this beer stand out to me. Would definitely seek again
