Pours a rusty orange with a nice and frothy finger of slight off white foam.
Bitter hop resins, citrus fruit namely orange and grapefruit pith, and sweet caramel malts.
Citrusy and resinous hops are definitely the aspects of this beer that stand out while the caramel malt backbone lends some support but lets the hops shine. Unfortunately in flavor its rather underwhelming and rather one sided only lending citrus fruit character.
Medium-bodied, medium carbonation, slick, resinous, sticky, oily.
Overall, I really wanted to enjoy this beer more, but about half way into the glass was left looking for something more. Needs some fine tuning but still drinkable.

a very solid and slightly unconventional double ipa here. it marries that west coast oily almost sweet aspect of the hops with a generous malt base that gives the beer plenty of balance for its size, and a lot of body for the hops to hang on to. we enjoyed this very much. mostly clear deep brassy color to it, you can almost see the hop oils swirling around here under the thin white head, they obviously hopped this like crazy. cool fruity complexion to the nose though, almost no bitterness there. lemons and candied orange peel and even pineapple come to mind there, and it transfers over the the flavor nicely, where apples and a pinch of honey join the flavor party. lots going on with the hops here, and the crystal malt base seems perfectly appropriate. usually i am turned off by a maltier ipa, especially a big ipa, but it really works in this case because of the unique flavor and feel the hops bring. slick feeling, not greasy, but the hops have impacted this aspect as well. still very little bitterness, even in the finish, seems almost like an american barleywine at times, but the alcohol is super well hidden and frankly this drinks pretty easy for how strong it is. my first beer from these guys is a very good one. fresh and different from the masses of generic big american ipas.

4 oz sample poured on tap Truman DIPA
A: light Amber in color clear body slight small bubble head
S: light resiny hops some orange marmalade
T: sweet child vitamin taste to like a little fruity with just a sharp edge to finishing with a little bit of resin getting some decent orange taste out of it
M: medium feel it clings a little more on the tongue
O: it's ok nothing mind bending the malts keep the hops in check. The Hop flavors tend to be a bit muddled
