Pours a silky and thick dark brown nearing black in appearance with a beautiful crown of light brown, sturdy foam.

Huge aromas of toasted coconut, vanilla, milk and dark chocolate, and roasty goodness, very sweet.

Tons of vanilla and toasted coconut sweetness layered between waves of sweet and bitter chocolate notes.

Heavy-bodied, low carbonation, sweet, thick, sticky, chewy.

Overall, this is beer I'd love to see on the shelf more often from Mikerphone, a home run for sure.

24 fl oz. 'BIG A$$ CAN', no canned on date present. Another new one to me from Mikerphone Brewing, this one a self-proclaimed 'Double Milk Stout with Cocoa nibs, Toasted Coconut, & Bourbon Vanilla Beans'. 9.75% abv listed on the label.

Poured into a Duvel tulip glass.

A - It pours an inky jet black body from the can. Conjures about a finger of dark mocha head that doesn't stay long - falls to a ring quickly. Mild sticky lacing left behind. A thick, viscous appearance. Looks very nice.

S - A big aroma for a big beer: tons of milk chocolate, earthy creamy vanilla beans, good significant amounts of coffee / roastiness, and some booze fumes. Not gathering much in the way of coconut.

T - Taste follows the aroma: tons of sweetened boozy creamy milk chocolate, dark roast, & mild alcohol warmth. There is a subtle spiciness almost cinnamon-like that I can only assume is from the Bourbon vanilla beans? Either way, all of our ingredients meld together nicely. Sweet & sugary. Definitely a dessert beer.

M - Mouthfeel is thick, full, smooth, & creamy. Mildly boozy, but no bitterness or roastiness lingers behind. Light considering the high abv and the weight of the beer itself; easy to drink stuff.

Overall, a delicious 'double milk stout' from Mikerphone, and definitely available in a nice format, though 24 ounces of stout might be a bit much for some people, but again it is great for the price point also! Keep up the good work.

[Review & re-rating of Batch # 2 written on May 7, 2016]

750 ml bottle, Batch #2. Acquired the last bottle of this stuff from the local bottle shop Toned down to 9.00% abv this time around.

Poured to Mikerphone Brewing stemware.

A - Thick oily black pour; glassy, obsidian, opaque. About a half finger of creamy mocha foam that leaves minor lacing.

S - An interesting aroma: some initial coiny metallics followed by notes of caramel, cream, marshmallow fluff, oak wood, mustiness, and faint notions of dark fruit.

T - Taste of vanilla, milk chocolate, cream, dark coffee bean roast. Again, some coiny metallics. The bourbon vanilla beans come through very authentic, giving off flavors of ice cream, and imparting huge flavors of whiskey, booze, oak, and vanilla. Almost tastes like the beer itself was barrel-aged. Subtle flavors of dark fruit - plums, dates, raisins, figs come near the finish. Very complex and interesting stuff.

M - Feel is smooth & creamy. Lingering milk chocolate / coffee bean roast / slight metallics. Very easy-drinking with no hint of the high abv.

Overall, much more complex and interesting than i can recall the first batch being. Definitely has me looking forward to future batches, if Mike ever brews this one again.

750 ml bottle into a snifter. Had 8/11/17.

Pours an opaque, dark chocolate brown, with no head and a hint of spotty lacing. Smells of roasted malt, vanilla, cocoa, toffee, molasses, some coconut. The taste pretty much follows the nose- dark roast malt, cocoa, chocolate, caramel, molasses, some coconut, light coffee. Smooth, an appropriate level of carbonation, a decent medium to full body.

This is good, but the heavily roasted malt kind of buries the add- ins in the flavor. Worth a purchase.

[LOOK] - Nearly black and opaque. Little to no head of any kind, which is to be expected.
[SMELL] - Booze forward, naturally. I get a lot of coffee and cocoa on the nose.
[TASTE] - Very cocoa forward, which was apparent from the first sip.
[FEEL] - Silky smooth with no carbonation of note.
[OVERALL] - Really good and impressive for a relatively available stout. Would recommend and seek out again.

Smell is straight coconut and chocolate. Rich and slightly sweet smelling.

Taste is huge coconut, chocolate, vanilla. A great melding of flavors that come through in equal intensity.

Mouthfeel is velvety smooth and creamy soft. Absolutely phenomenal.

Tasted in a Spiegelau stout glass from a 750 ml bottle on February 11, 2018. Look is deep dark brown with a thin tan head and soapy lacing. Smell and taste is hints of the adjuncts and then some booziness. Feel is medium to full in body.

Poured from a 22oz "Big ass can" into a snifter, after letting it warm for ~1 hr. Look was deep black with a really small khaki head that recedes to a light ring very quickly. The nose is very faint - some light sugar, chocolate and hint of toasted coconut. Taste is very complex, but well integrated. Rich chocolate, raisin, toasted almond, vanilla, a little bit of alcohol burn. Didn't get a pronounced coconut, but I think that is what drove the almond flavor. Not really thick, but the vanilla leaves a really nice coating sensation. Low carbonation, but it is sufficient. Overall this was a good surprise. My first Mikerphone, and I must say it was really well put together.
