750 ml bottle, no bottled on date or batch number present. Bottled 2 days ago, and delivered fresh to the local bottle shop. "Berliner Weisse-Style Ale With Pineapple & Mango 4% ABV".

Poured into Mikerphone Brewing stemware.

A - Pours a hazed golden-lemon body, less than a finger of thin soapy white head that lingers mostly as a ring. Hardly any lacing to speak of. Looks good per the style.

S - Aroma is good: yeasty, cheesy, and full of bacterial tartness. Wheat? No obvious additions of pineapple or mango on the nose. (Buttery popcorn / diacetyl?)

T - Absolutely delicious: like a delicious can of pineapple & mango nectar. Hugely fresh, juicy, tropical, & tart. Bacterial, yeasty, & dry on the finish.

M - Feel is extremely smooth, juicy, crisp, tart. Hugely drinkable & smackable stuff. Lip-puckering tartness / dryness / bacterial finish. Beckons the palate for another sip. Tartness grows as it drinks on.

Overall, a nice sour Berliner from Mikerphone, with excellently integrated pineapple and mango flavors. Everything Mike does seems to be wonderful.

Really good - not as sour as most Berliner Weiss beers I've had.

This is the description of a Berliner Weissbier from Beeradvocate: "[Berliner Weissbier] have a rapidly vanishing head and a clear, pale golden straw-coloured appearance. The taste is refreshing, tart, sour and acidic, with a lemony-citric fruit sharpness and almost no hop bitterness." This beer fits this description to a T. Smells sour and yeasty, and I could not detect any of the mango or pineapple. Taste is mostly tart on the front end and the fruits are found in the back end of each sip along with another note I just cannot place (malt?). The fruit notes just enough to complement the tartness of the beer. Crisp, clean finish that does not overwhelm or linger on the palette. Taste gets better as it warms from fridge temps. Mouthfeel is easy and smooth, and a whole bottle goes down rather easily and innocently as it is only 4% ABV. Overall: I am not familiar with the Berliner Weissbier style and I bought this based on the strength of Mikerphone's other offerings, but I like to believe I've drank enough to know a well constructed beer when I have one. This is well thought out beer and I recommend giving it a try if you are into the style or you like tart/sour beers.
