Sampled in a taster glass from draft at Mikerphone Brewing on May 17, 2019. Look is dark brown with a thin tan head and sticky lacing. Notes of maple syrup, coffee and bourbon. Feel is full in body.

2018 version drank on 8/17/19. Enormously complex, bringing notes of vanilla, marshmallow, coconut, nougat, caramel, chocolate milkshake, milk chocolate, charred oak, dark chocolate, maple, gourmet coffee, slight tobacco, roasted malt, and smooth bourbon. The coffee and maple are still there, but they have subsided and have allowed the chocolaty base beer to interplay with the complex barrel. Chocolate chip pancakes covered in maple syrup with a side of coffee comes to mind. Really impressive.

12 oz. bottle. Black body. Smells of sweet maple, coffee, bourbon, and some sweet chocolate. Tastes of strong bourbon and coffee. Roasted malt. Oak. Vanilla. Lingering maple sweetness. Boozy, but not hard to drink. Very tasty. Maple is hefty, but it isn't that sweet.

Appearance: Arrives fudge colored with a modest mocha head; decent retention and splotchy lacing

Smell: Milk chocolate, maple, marshmallow and coffee, all enveloped by Bourbon aromatics

Taste: Milk chocolate, maple and marshmallow forward, with some coffee tones emerging; the mid-palate is dominated by the Bourbon; the finish brings a nice blend of all the elements

Mouthfeel: Full-bodied, with moderate carbonation; some warmth in the gullet

Overall: An impressive nightcap to a series of great brews at Mikerphone

Vintage 2019. This tastes like a brownie, drizzled with caramel bourbon sauce and lightly dunked in coffee. Amazing aroma and flavor with full, rich texture.

Glossy black with a curled fuzzy tan collar.

This has way more roasty Folgers-like ground coffee flavor than the many non-BA variants I've had. Having it this fresh probably assists in that department, but I enjoy it more because of it, as it makes for less sticky sweet of maple, but there's still plenty there. It's also quite nutty compared to the one note BA S'more next to it. However, like all other BA Mikerphone beers I've had, there's still not really any barrel to be had here.

I hate how cloying their shit is, but this one's definitely better than the rest. Again, likely aided by its freshness.

Looks like a typical imperial stout and smells like beautiful maple, but I really struggled to taste the maple over the super bitter coffee flavor. Barrel character not there. Could not finish my pour unfortunately, and I generally do not mind bitterness...

The beer pours a Pitch Black with a very thin khaki head that recedes immediately. It has low carbonation. The beer smells of maple syrup, waffles, vanilla, and coffee. It tastes of maple syrup covered waffles, mocha, vanilla, and coffee. The beer is light, and smooth. A nice barrel aged stout from Mikerohone.

This beer is extremely tasty. I am so-so on the regular version but the BA version is amazing. Strong maple smell with a hint of coffee. Taste is pretty damn epic, dare I say better than Mornin' Delight. The barrels add a smoothness and cut some the bitterness of the coffee. I tried this on several occasions and each time I was impressed. Cheers!

So this might be blasphemy, but I thought the non-barrel aged version was more complex. While I loved the bourbon layer, I felt like it cut into the rich and spicy coffee flavors and made sweet finish that the original had a little darker. Still fantastic, even smoother with the barrel aging, but it loses some nuance in the taste. Don't get me wrong, this is an excellent beer and I would gladly have it again!

Oozed of maple and coffee on the nose.

Coffee took over when it hits the tongue... light sweet, maple

Finished with some barrel and bitterness from the coffee.

Appearance: black body with dark brown head.

Smell: huge coffee & barrel notes. Hint of maple.

Taste: huge coffee. Moderate barrel. Top shelf bourbon, Marshmallows & smoke are the barrel notes. More maple & bourbon as it hit room temperature.

Mouthfeel: medium body. Low carbonation. Light booze, but fairly smooth bourbon character.

Overall: the best bean spirit variant yet. Heaven hills barrels are a great match with Imperial Bean Spirit. It’s like OG Bourbon County barrel character blended with Imperial Bean Spirit. That’s about what you get with this beer. It doesn’t suck. Let this beer warm to get most out of the barrel & maple flavors.

On draft at Mikerphone. Served in a 6oz taster glass and savored slowly to allow it to warm up. Pours a dark black body, half finger mocha head, good retention, splotchy lacing. Smell is maple and a fair bit of bourbon, not too much of that distinct Tugboat coffee that the base beer has; also a little bit of milk chocolate, roasted barley and a touch of vanillin. Flavour follows; a fair bit of bourbon heat, vanillin, touch of roast, milk chocolate, mild-moderate maple syrup presence that isn't as forward as the base beer, but nevertheless its a reasonably interesting and complex beer. Coffee is muted here. Mouthfeel is full-bodied, not dry, smooth and even a bit creamy, good thickness with a slight bourbon heat on the finish. I'm not sure that this is any improvement on the base beer which is already excellent, but this was not bad at all. I think if I had the choice, I would take the regular base beer over this one, though.

HH barrels do some heavy lifting. Huge maple nose, still vicious and thick despite the barrels. Coffee and maple both come out strong, more subtle maple at the very end. The barrel is initially a little hot, but blends out smooth. Strong offering from Mikerphone. Curious to see what some cellar time does
