I had a few Bearded Iris IPAs when I was up in Nashville for a game. They were all thoroughly good, but I love the juiciness and taste of Homestyle. I would pick it up here in Georgia.

A: The beer is very hazy pale yellow in color. It poured with a half finger high white head that quickly settled down, leaving patches of bubbles covering the surface and some lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of stone fruit and lime citrus are present in the nose along with hints of herbs.
T: The taste is nearly a mirror image of the smell and has balanced flavors of stone fruit and lime. No bitterness is perceptible.
M: It feels nearly medium-bodied and a bit juicy on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: I liked how the smell and taste of this beer had balanced flavors of stone fruit and lime.

Fills a PBGC Pub Tulip glass with sherbert yellow and orange highlights (SRM 3-4). Haziness is a bit light for this style. The puffy white head reaches an inch and a half, then holds at about an inch for a long while.

Initial fresh citrus of orange and grapefruit adds pine before quickly turning a little acrid. This is not quite what one would expect for an NEIPA.

The flavor is way too bitter for the style. Sweetness is there, but too low to balance. Fruits include mango and orange juice. Pine is also strong. The finish is long and ends up with that familiar taste of orange juice and toothpaste.

The body is medium to full with a nylon texture. Lots of residual sugar deposits itself on the lips. Carbonation is effervescent, while alcohol is as expected.

Understanding this as an NEIPA, the beer is a little lacking. However, if one understands it as a hybrid West/East Coast IPA, it fares much better. Which is to say that while it may not have rated so well, I did enjoy it very much.

Wow! Spot on! I could drink this all day. Fresh, bright, so juicy, loved this one at the bar, Brixx pizza in Hendersonville, TN. Our server, Michael, set us up with this one! Such a fresh taste; went great with our Thai pizza.

I have become a fan of New England IPAs. Sadly, the last few NEIPAs I have drunk were fair. The beer was 46 degrees and served in a tonic glass. The pour of the beer produced a two-fingered head with decent retention. The head was bright white and foamy. The head of the beer did leave a little bit of lacing on the glass. The color of the beer is SRM 4, pale gold with a straw yellow hues. The beer is cloudy, typical for this style of beer.

The initial aroma in the beer is oranges, lemons, a hint of herbs, and a touch of sweetness. Next, I smell bread, crackers, pineapple, lightly toasted malts, and mango.

The first sip of the beer, I taste oranges, lemons, floral esters, lemons, and a touch of herbs. Next, I sense, yeast, crackers, pine, earthy, hay, mangos, and a hint of malty sweetness.

The mouthfeel of the beer is astringent and crisp.

The body of the beer is medium, medium-plus carbonation, and a medium-plus finish.

I have enjoyed this brewery's IPA. The beer is refreshing and crisp. For me, I would have like to taste more of the classic NEIPA citrus notes. I do get a bit of pine in this beer with green hay. Nonetheless, a solid beer to sip on, certainly significantly better than the last few NEIPAs I have drunk.

L: A beautiful hazy juice with a little head or lace to speak of.

S: Tropicals and mineral notes. Stonefruits pervade.

T: Only slightly dank for a Mosaic. Wet stone, mineral spirits, and barely ripe stonefruits minus any sourness.

F: Medium fruit juice body - not syrupy.

O: I can never find a Tennessee brew, not even in neighboring states, now thanks to Tavour and Bearded Iris I’m ticking off Tennessee with a smile. Very good.

Pours a hazy orange with a thin, soapy white head. Great lacing.
Intense, hoppy smell on the side of the softer melons.
Taste follows nose with melons as the base. Not overly hoppy.
Incredibly soft mouthfeel. Wonderful beer.

16oz can into a pint glass. No freshness dating could be found, other than an etched 22 on the base of the can. Also had this on tap on a recent trek to Knoxville.

Looks pretty good in the glass. Thick orange juice colored body. Small white head which shrinks to a ring and faint covering. No lacing.

Earthy, fruity, piney aroma.

Lot going on in the taste department. There is some non citrus fruit, a little bitterness, light pine, and a grassy barnyard flavor. All this in a 6.0abv.

Mouth soft and close to full. Finish a light fruit bitterness.

Overall, nice interpretation of a ne IPA. Glad to have got to try it.

16 oz can, 9/24/19
Sent from Kevin

Juicy, hazy appearance, with a creamy cap of 1 finger. Lace on the sides in sparse webs.

Aroma is bomb diggity. So rich and juicy. Mouthwatering. Tons of papaya, split open red grapefruit, white grapefruit, dragon fruit, apricot, persimmon, dank, pineapple, tangerines, and lemons.

Flavor brings forth cannabis and pineapple, with hints of resin and apricot, lemon seeds, grapefruit, and a finish of lemon water and a hint of mint.

The first thing I noticed about this beer when it hit my lips was the creamy texture. So smooth, like mashed potatoes baby. Nice resins and moderate spikey carbonation. Moderate alcohol warmth.

Overall, what a knockout. I like this better than Pseudo and that's saying a lot.

Edit : after my recent trip to Tennessee, I stocked up on more of this. I'd say this is hands down my favorite steady release IPA. Just amazing.

Had it in bottle. Tastewise, was the epitome of a great New England style. Noticed the bottle said Mosaic hops were used. The one slight detraction was a slight soapy-like aspect to the flavor that was in the background and didn't mellow out with more sips.

This is really a delightful offering from Bearded Iris at 6%. The aroma is sweet, peach gummy and mango. The flavor is also driven by both fruits with the addition of sweet orange citrus and some lemon/lime too. Juicy, soft Mosaic

Cloudy orange with a fat finger of very airy, off-white head. It’s fairly short-lived and leaves almost zero lacing.

White pepper, dusty pine and orange in the nose.

Watered down orange, fairly pithy, with plenty of pepper, some light pine bitterness, a touch of green onion and crackery malt.

Fairly light bodied, just slightly heavier and creamier than water, with prickly carbonation.

Very nice flavors and balance in this, but it’s all slightly watery, leaving me wanting more.

L-Glowing hazy yellow with a light white head on top.

S-Really intense aroma of bright citrus. Tangelos and a bit of lemon. Also a nice vibrant dark berries aroma of mainly blueberries. I also get some tropical notes of passion fruit and guava. Top notch nose on this.

T-Taste brings in a little catty notes. Dank. Not as much of the aroma characteristics. Light touch of onion/garlic. Grassy... Not a real long finish.

F-My biggest criticism. Too thin. Has a smooth texture and all but thin for a regular IPA.

O-Interesting take on the style and decent enough. I know this is highly thought of but for me the highlight is the aroma. The biggest drawback is the body. Not terrible but more middling which bring the overall score down lower than what many have scored this.

Draught @ Beer Temple, Amsterdam. Murky yellow colour. White head with little retention. Aroma's of fruit juice, citrus, dank hops. Retronasal the dankness is much more upfront with the citrus more subdued. Also resin. Flavour is light moderate bitter with light juicy sweetness. Medium bodied. Light hopburn. Finishes with a short but firm bitterness.

16 ounce can - $4.79 at Sprayberry Bottle Shop in Marietta, Georgia.

01/21/19.

Appearance: Pours a rather hazy-looking, orange-yellow body with a smallish, thinning, white head.

Smell: Creamy oat pottage, citrus juices with a schmear of berries and lighter touches of resiny pine, peppery herb.

Taste: Honey-kissed barley and smooth, nutty-ish oats with a sweet, citrusy, pulpy juiciness of white grapefruit, lemon and orange. Touch of pith, some berryskins. Even fainter still, some pine and lawn-weed herbaceousness. Medium bitterness. A little chalky for me on the backhalf. Rolling rolled oats slurry with a blend of citrus juices on the finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.

Overall: Decent enough!

Straight haze with no light penetration. Milky orange-yellow, with an almost peachy highlight. Almost a finger of white head that dissipates slowly. Faint oaty, hoppy smell with slight citrus fruit notes. Full-bodied citrus, piney, hoppy flavor. Significantly bitter, but not off-putting. Thick and creamy mouth feel with bright tingly carbonation.

Solid juicy IPA that's definitely worth trying.

Flavorful citrus, cloudy and a nice mouthfeel in a simple but well-balanced juicy treat. Better and more consistent from a can, I think. A great first beer of the night. Since it's not a DIPA, it can feel weak if it follows one, but it's really good on its own.

Date: Canned on 11/27/18, consumed on 12/10/18.

Appearance: It's an NE IPA and it looks the part. Full haze with absolutely zero light coming through. Slightly sludgy orange in color with a finger of fizzy white head.

Aroma: If there is a brewery out there that I could identify immediately based on aroma alone, it would be Bearded Iris. That huge oat aroma is almost unmistakable. Aside from that, we have the usual suspects which include tangerine, pineapple, mango, lemon, and bitter grapefruit. Additionally there is a cream like aroma mingling in the background, almost like the whipped cream the might accompany a peaches and cream style dessert.

Taste: Surprisingly, Homestyle is a good deal more bitter than the nose would indicate. The front is sweet tropical fruits but that quickly fades and the beer turns breifly to the unsweetened oat backbone and then takes a swan dive into a bitter, pithy, lemon and herbal pool. I generally feel these Bearded Iris are all quality beers, I just don't care much for the oats as it makes a 6% IPA drink like a 10% Imperial Stout. That being said, I do like the fact that this isnt a overly sweet, 20 IBU NE IPA. As the beer warms, a nice slightly resinous hop bouquet blooms. There is some green herbal notes that have emerged as well.
