Poured from 16oz can into glass. Canned date is stamped, "HOLY SCHNIKES 10/02/17'.
Can notes include the phrase - "passion fruit + pine + grey matter".
Orange marmalade color body, hazy, with lots of light gray specs that settle to the bottom of the glass. Two finger head settles to creamy, thick cap, with good area coverage of lacing.
Tropical fruit aroma. Sweeter taste of mango, papaya, and grapefruit. Some grassy pine at the back end, some pith. IBUs must be rather low, not very bitter.
Thicker mouth feel, very quaffable.
A tasty IPA in the newer hazy juice bomb style.

Pours a hazy yellow into a fifteen ounce glass mug the same temperature as the beer. One half finger head that dissipates rapidly. Some pretty nice lacing.
The nose is primarily ripe white grapefruit and rind followed by tropical fruit. Mango. Pine. Citrus hops along with some mild floral hops.
Taste follows the nose with upfront pine and ripe white grapefruit juice that combines with some citrus hops. Pineapple. Maybe mango? The hop bitterness is there but well tempered by a good malt backbone. Regrettably there is a touch of soapiness.
Medium mouthfeel with good carbonation. Finish is a fast sweet to dry. Quite a feat.
This a a good all around IPA. Perhaps not the best in the world but very good none the less. Very drinkable. You can drink this beer all day.

16oz can share courtesy of Torrey. Milky golden body, scant bubbly head. Orangy, citrusy aroma, juicy. Taste brings in a more tropical flavor, decent feel. Lots of dregs at the bottom.

Pours a murky grapefruit juice looking concoction. White head falls to nothing. Would knock it down on looks for lack of lace but the murkiness makes up for it.
Aroma is nice big fruity juicy grapefruit, pineapple, kiwi, mango and pine. Nice big hops.
Taste like the nose big fruity notes that finishes with bitter grapefruit rind and sprinkling of pine needle.
Mouhfeel is medium with more then medium level of carbonation.
Overall a good fruity IPA that I would have again when I see it on tap.

"Oh, its that hop that tastes like cat pee", or "its the stink weed pot beer", or "its the grassy, earthy hops that they used to use". But none of that is true. The Simcoe hop variety gets a bad rap when handled, harvested or brewed incorrectly. But in the capable hands of Bearded Iris, the pleasantries of the hop come boldly, bright and beautiful.
Yet what's not exactly beautiful is the beer's murky hues of pond water and grapefruit juice. Just off of tapioca, the beer's clumpy retention and sturdy lace is nothing like its scent or taste within. Bright with the tang and succulence of tropical fruit, the nose is appetizing with honey, pine and pleasant grasses. Its taste is equally juicy as the malt taste of fructose, honey and angel food cake offer a firm grain sweetness on the front of the tongue.
As the sweetness drifts, the remaining fruit flavors are bitter, tart and mildly pectin-like. Passionfruit, pineapple, kiwi, cantaloup, grapefruit and orange are just the beginning of the individual fruit impressions that both the notorious hops and the fruit forward yeast strain leaves in their wake. Growing bitterness is smooth like fine English bitters laced with the pep of Curacao liquor, muddled tropical fruit peel and fresh cut chive, wildflower and lemongrass.
What starts creamy and moderately malty sweet finishes bone dry, crisp and cleanly bitter. With a mild grip on the gullet, the calm hop hand strays away from the classic "West Coast" IPA and more toward the flavor and aromatic filled "New England" concepts. With an arid aftertaste of citrus and tropical fruit with fresh tea leaf endures into a medium long series of echoes.

Poured into a Trillium glass a very nice cloudy yellow/orangy color, very nice carbonation, with a very nice thick/creamy two-finger white head, which also leaves some pretty nice creamy sticky lacing behind. The nose is pretty nice, hoppy, malty, with a nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, passion fruit, apricot, mango), pretty nice little diesel like. The taste is pretty nice, hoppy, malty, very nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, passion fruit, apricot, mango), pretty nice little diesel like. Medium body, ABV hidden very well, with a nice little dry/bitter finish. Overall, this is a very tasty brew. A little bit different than other's I've had from BI. Addictive! Orange Julius! Glad to have gotten a chance to try it. Thanks John!
