What a fantastic DIPA.

Grassy, mango nose.

Very juicy taste with a piney finish.

Just so smooth for 7.5%.

Great beer, although I think Attention Please is my favorite from Bearded Iris.

Could be this is an off can since this experience doesn't match others, though butter appears in reviews here and on other sites. YMMV

Some there are who likely think this beer a murky mess, but I am not one of those I must in truth confess. This chunky monkey turbid beauty looks to me like gold, and in its cloudy depths a hoppy future is foretold. A sniff reveals a hit of diacetyl's butter smell. This isn't a good sign, I guess. What does it foretell? Buttered popcorn strongly smelled is not just in my mind. Diacetyl beer is not a happy thing to find. Ugh, the taste confirms it, this is not a decent beer, and soon I shall dispose it in the sink, I sadly fear. More sips confirm the verdict, diacetyl is at play, no matter how I wish that it would simply go away. And so beware all those who seek Red Handed IPA. I think you won't enjoy it is 'bout all there's left to say. But that's how beer is sometimes, and ya know, I am not vexed. And now the only thought I have is hmmm, what beer is next?

This better help put Bearded Iris and Nashville on the map. One of the many up and coming highly sought after NE style IPAs coming from the south.
Look - cloudy, hazy, thick, and fruity as hell.
Smell - dank of course, lovely citrus, grapefruit and orange rind. Also sitting in a forest.
Taste - more grapefruit, lemon, orange peel, pine. Without that awful green chemical piny burn of some of those overrated IPAs out there.
Feel - perfectly soft, smooth, crushable.
Overall - this is the beer people would line up for at Tired Hands, Other Half, Bissel Brothers, etc.

Loving what the Nashville beer scene has become, our neighbors in the south conjure an imperial IPA with the savory, succulent, fruity upstart without missing out on the bitter finish that brings the hop heads coming near and far. Bearded Iris nails the style with a blend of new and exotic hops along with tried and true varieties for a fan friendly taste for all bitter beer appreciators.

Red Handed pours a hazy gold austere with a creamy off white froth that spills into the nose with those prized tropical, citrus, herbal and sprucy notes that trend much more fruity than earthy. One sip reveals a fruit filled sweetness that circulates around caramel, poundcake, toasty, savory and nutty properties even is mild.

Yet once the sweetness relaxes and the hops take command, the flavors of pink grapefruit, blood orange, and lemon rises to prominence. Growing fruit flavors then stem into the tropical worlds of mango, apricot, pineapple and mild passionfruit before trending piney, grassy, herbal and tea-like in bitterness.

Peppery and with a kiss of butterscotch, the finish trends dry but reveals the rougher edges of hops and grain before trailing into an earthy, woodsy and herbal taste that's of over extended teas, toast and lemon pepper before an extended finish of grassiness, pine and pepper.

Thanks goes out to Buck89 for this brew.

16 oz. Can
Canned On: 06/19/17

My second from this brewery.

Poured into a Tired Hands glass a very nice cloudy orangy color, very nice carbonation, with a very nice thick/creamy one-finger off-white head, which also leaves some pretty nice creamy sticky lacing behind. The nose is pretty nice, hoppy, malty, with a nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, grapefruit, mango), pretty nice pineyness. The taste is pretty nice, hoppy, malty, very nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, grapefruit, mango), pretty nice pine note. Medium body, ABV hidden pretty well, with a nice dry/bitter finish. Overall, this is a very tasty brew. Addictive! Glad to have gotten a chance to try it. Thanks John!

Dark hazy orange, a touch of lace. Piney aroma. Fruity and piney flavor with something odd on the finish. A bit prickly on the mouthfeel. A decent IPA but not one I'd seek out unless I was inTennessee.

Poured into a Wicked Weed snifter. Bottom of can says Canned On 01/09/17.

A- Pours a hazy dark amber color with a 1/2 inch off-white head that retains very well before becoming a thick ring around the edge of the glass and a half sheet of sheer surface foam. Semi-resilient lacing leaves large clots behind.

S- Pretty juicy aroma but a bit muted for the style.

T- Interestingly sweet flavor reminds me of fruity candy. Moderate bitterness and some resinous hop character keeps the sweetness in check. Can't tell if it's the malt or the hops but it's almost vanilla-like. The alcohol is very well hidden.

M- Very soft but with a dry afterfeel. Medium carbonation and a body leaning toward the lighter side.

O- A good stab at the NE DIPA. While I'd like a bit more intensity, it's plenty tasty and I'd revisit it if given the chance.

Canned 1/9/17. Served at 40-42 degrees. Poured into Bearded Iris Tulip glass.

Hazy/turbid golden-orange with one inch slightly off-white fluffy head that fades over 7-8 minutes to nice ring and foam layer. Good amount of lacing.

Aromas of tropical fruit (mostly mango) with some dank, piney, and resinous notes as well.

Taste follows the nose with fruity flavors followed by dank, resin, and pine.

Soft feel with mild-moderate bitter finish. Medium carbonation. Light malt presence with hops being the predominant feature.

Another great IPA/DIPA from Bearded Iris.
