Notes: Our newest release isn’t easy to pin down. Strata + Cashmere + Citra hops tie to subtle strands of expressive English yeast for a DIPA that’s smooth and just a bit of a sweet talker. Silky fresh-sliced mango mouthfeel and undaunted notes of lemon squares, clementine rind, and refreshing citrus sorbet leave a lasting impression.

16oz can. Poured out a cloudy, golden orange color with a good-sized, off-white head of bubbly foam. It left sticky rings of lace. It smelled of pineapple, grapefruit, orange and sweet caramel. Great tropical fruit taste with toasted caramel and a sharp, piney bitterness.

Among the smoother and fruitier of the Bearded Iris Contengency, they employ the aid of Cashmere, Strata and Citra hops to complete a flavor that fits the haze craze mold perfectly.

Pale goldenrod and held in a firm matte appearance, the pastel Escape Artist builds a creamy white froth that carries the seducing perfume of tropical fruit, citrus and fine herb across the nose. With a light shortcake maltiness, the beer's early impression in taste are of light pastry dough, honey and with a bready density.

Once the ale washes the middle palate, its all about the hops. A full and fruity taste comes in waves with impressions of ripe mango and mandarin oranges. With hints of red grapefruit and a tangy lemon character, a sharper fruitiness is found. But a rounded tropical flavor passionfruit and pawpaw precedes a moderately bitter taste late as the nuances of fresh grasses, tea and hemp come about.

Medium bodied and malty-dry on the palate, the hoppy beer is mildly peppery and with a smooth sprucy finish. A medium length aftertaste of citronella and juicy cantaloup has us reaching for another. Its artistry is simply inescapable.

Poured from pint can into shaker pint glass.
A: Pours a clear yellow hue with 1 inch bubbly white head with excellent retention.
S: Light citrus and floral hops: orange, sweet grapefruit, with subtle mango, white grape, floral, and minty herbal notes.
T: Orange and mango cream, sweet grapefruit and lemon, and white grape with a hint of a floral note.
M: Light-medium body. Delicately sweet. Mildly bitter throughout. Soft and slightly creamy feel. Lingers nicely on the palate.
D: Very approachable, refreshing, and with good hop complexity. Another solid brew from Bearded Iris!

16 oz can from brewery, canned 1/20/19. FRESHHHHH

Pours a hazy juicy pale blonde with a tall creamy head of 2 fingers.

Aroma is just pure juice. OJ, Grapefruit, and pineapple juices. Some slight herbal dankness. Blueberry. This is straight juice. This is up there with some of the best New England aromas ever.

Flavor brings mineral, plant matter, grapefruit peel, grapefruit flesh, orange juice, blueberries, dank apricot, and slight pipe bowl.

(Edit : 2 months later this beer has opened up wonderfully. I'm getting so much flavor, mostly cantaloupe, mango, pineapple, and papaya. The dankness is still there but less pronounced)

Feel is acidic and juicy. Nice resins. Reminds me of Other Half.

Overall, this beer is like if Other Half decided to do a lighter sessionable pale ale. And that's not any type of slam, because IMO, Other Half is the best there is. This is an incredible beer, and for some reason, Bearded Iris always tastes better from the can than from the tap. I'm glad I bought a pack. I regret not buying packs of the other stuff I tried, because it may have been better from the can, but I just went off of what I was given from the taps. This can here is the Bearded Iris I know and love. I don't know what happened on the tap line the other night. I think a lot of negative reviews are from the tap line which In my opinion even Homestyle came across as mediocre. They get it right in their cans though!

Edit : Escape Artist continues to impress. One of the best IPAs I've ever had. On my third batch from three different trips back to Nashville over the course of 2 years. Incredible. Never, ever change this, guys. This is art.

Pretty unappealing, pulpy mess, looks-wise, though I guess that qualifies it as a milkshake IPA in terms of appearance in our modern beer world. But the beer, itself, is quite tasty.
