Very Good
Little BrettLittle Brett
Notes: Little Brett is both hopped and dry hopped with 100% Mosaic hops and is completely fermented in stainless with our house strain of Brettanomyces yeast. Little Brett is a hazy, straw-colored beer featuring an aroma bursting with pineapple and notes of bread crust. Pineapple continues through the flavor with additional notes of fresh cut grass. A mild tartness in the finish is nicely balanced with a pleasant hop-bitterness.

Bottled 5/18. Almost a year old. Smell and taste on point. Look and feel a little thin. I’d be curious to try it fresh. Still very enjoyable. Purchased as a single. Would be interested in getting a 4 pack for a warm afternoon

Bottled 4/28/16; drank 5/28/16 @ the Yarchives.

Cloudy pale yellow appearance; champagne bubbles throughout.

A rough pour yielded a small bright white head; nice lace.

Lemon, banana & cane sugar notes in the nose.

Medium thin mouthfeel.

Lemon, dry tea leaves & faint banana flavors up front; faint cane sugar notes on the finish.

An effervescent session brew that served me well on a hot spring night. Nice!

12oz bottle into Tulip
Bottled on 5/22/18
Pours light gold with thin white head, slight chill haze
Pineapple, funk, berries
Cereal grainy up front, followed by tart lemon, with a big funky finish
The feel is disappointing, very light and watery
Overall this beer is like a steps downward, amazing aroma, decent taste, and subpar feel which affects the overall experience

Pours a clear yellow with fine, frothy head.

Smell is fruity with a bit of bretty pepper to it. Notes of peach, citrus and a hint of spice.

Taste is fruity and almost a little bit tart as it hits the tongue. Notes of peach, citrus, rye and brett come and go, along with a soft, delicate bitterness and a long, slightly spicy finish. Very refreshing and greatly balanced.

Mouthfeel is thin to medium, well carbonated.

Overall, I really liked this. Refreshing and light, but with plenty of layers. Would gladly have this again.

This beer smells and tastes partially like what I call "Christmas tree" beers, essentially IPAs or PAs, like sea hag or little sumpin', but in a very light way, which I like.

However, the other half of the smell and taste is feces. It tastes like shit. I don't mean that to say it's bad, I mean actual shit. Every time I smell and taste it there is a faint hint of actual shit. I'm sorry, I have to stop drinking this because of that. But at the same time, I can almost not stop going back for a sip. Perhaps its like licking a woman's butthole in that sense. Something I've tried, but will pass on in the future.

Served on tap in a snifter at Consume.

Yeah, but wait 'til he grows up... ...Anyway, this stuff pours a clear brass topped by a half-finger of lightly off-white foam. The nose comprises white grape must, light grass, mild green apple skins, a hint of sage, and a touch of Brett-y funk. The taste brings in more of the same, some light biscuit added to the background for flavor and a touch of almost peppery spice joins in the mostly tart-fruit- and funk-laden finish. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a drying finish. Overall, a nice spike of Brett without things being overdone. Not too shabby.

Such a refreshing brew with a kiss of tartness and a wisp of Brett. A gateway Brett beer? Perhaps, or just one to pour cold on a hot day and sip and enjoy.

Golden like apple juice without any murkiness or sediment; clear as a perfect summer day. Mellow effervescence.

Aroma is pleasantly Mosaic - light citrus by way of pineapple, white grapes and kiwi followed by lightly tart green apple. Very faint mustiness; noticeable but quiet.

The kiss of tart following the citrus flavor and crispness of each sip is a the beer itself.

12 oz. bottle dated 05/22/18 poured into a 16 oz. mug. Strong pour needed to get a minimal fizzy thin white head that drops to a ring with little lacing. Label states straw color and they are right, plus some haze.

The funk; Wet ground under an apple tree in the fall, Silage, Dried horse dung.
The sweet; Pineapple, Grape bubble gum, Cherries.
The sour; Rhubarb, Hot and sour soup, Fresh lemon juice that is not so fresh anymore.
The bitter; Hops, Crab apples, Pepper.

The smell is a combination of funks, sweets and sours. When swished around different combinations are detected.

The taste is a combination of all four, The funks comes out in brief twinges while the sweets and sours are blended throughout the middle with the bitters at the end. A peppery bite lingers. Using different tasting techniques, different combinations of all four sensations are swirled around in a myriad of flavors.

Good carbonation helps richen the thin and slightly watery mouth feel , it improved as it warmed.
Don't drink this beer to cold.

Over all this was a roller coaster ride for the taste and smell. Not to much funk and sour, the taste is balanced by the sweet and bitter.

This is the greatest summer beer I’ve ever had. So much favor for 4.8%. Love the touch of funk and lots of pineapples. People who give it low ratings just don’t like the bret. This seems like a great way to try out a bret beer to me since it’s not too funky. Don’t miss it this summer if you see it.

Surprisingly good sour beer for such a low abv. Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a flute glass. Big, delicately bubbly head with decent retention and small patches of froth on the glass. The color is pale straw yellow. Good smell featuring tropical fruit (pineapple), Brett/barnyard funk/yeastiness and a little hoppiness. Taste is even better. I have had Saisons with less barnyard/horse blanket funk. The pineapple and touch of hops are much more robust than I would have expected from a fairly light beer. This is pretty tasty. Mouthfeel is light but with a nice tartness and a touch of hops. This would be an excellent summer beer, light enough where you could have several without getting hammered!

Ale fermented withy brett, dry hopped with mosaic, 4.8% ABV. Bottled 4/28/16, drank 9-21-17.

Pours out to a hazy very pale golden, forming a voluminous bone white head with excellent retention and lacing owing in parts to it's very brisk carbonation, ~4-4.5 carbs or so, likely due to it being in the bottle for over a year and the brett has been busy chewing away some goodies. The nose is fruit salad, brett, pineapple, mango and papaya. Mouthfeel is watery, light bodied, seltzer. The taste is a recap of the aroma with a pleasing moderate bitterness and a tropical hop flavor in the aftertaste. No off flavors or aromas. No DMS. Finishes bone dry.

A nice nice little brett table beer with enough flavor to keep it interesting despite it's watery mouthfeel and very light body. Worth trying

Straw with champagne like carbonation, and 3 fingers of white head that leave a nice lacing.

Smells of Brett, lambic funk, macaroni, and a light white lily floral quality, as well as white wine and cantaloupe.

Tastes very light and follows the nose completely. Slightly sweet, slightly sour, mostly a light version of funky brew.

Light body with light, powdery carbonation.

Drinking in Sturbridge, MA on Jan 2nd, 2018. Nice for a session brew of this funky sort.

Pours a clear straw color. 1/2 inch head of a white color. Good retention and slight lacing. Smells of yeast, bacteria funk, floral hops, slight citrus hops, slight herbs, and a hint of pale malt. Fits the style of an American Wild Ale. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. There is also a slight dryness. Tastes of yeast, bacteria funk, floral hops, slight citrus hops, slight herbs, and a hint of pale malt. Overall, good aroma, body, and blend. Light bodied, but still quite tasty.

Pours a clear straw with a billowing pile of bone-white head that rockily drops to a fat ring. Very good retention; swooping lacing. (4.25)

Fruity and bright right off the bat, musky funk, stonefruits, doughy sweetness. (4.25)

Similar to the nose but earthier. Hard minerals background with splashes of fruity and funky brett, aromatic hops, cracker malt and more. (4)

Light, bone dry with active carbonation and a crisp finish, really drinkable. (4)

This is a fabulous little beast of a beer.
It pours beautifully. The aroma and flavor both have a lot going on. It is light and simple, but has flavor and a little heft and a good character. A good three-way balance of earthy brett, stone fruits, and pleasant, unobtrusive malt. It is very drinkable, very tasty, and very well-made. I could drink this one all day. (4.25)

Clear light yellow with very little head that dissipates. Smells modestly of pineapple and piney hops and a little brett funk. Taste matches the smell but the brett character is more prominent in the taste. Mouthfeel is juicy and a little watery. Overall, a pretty good beer but more on the watery side and diluted flavors.

L: Hazy yellow with a big creamy white head. Excellent retention, sheets of lacing.

S: Funky and tart, with a little bit of mildew and sweat, but also a nice depth of tropical fruit. Pineapple, white peach, lemon and passion fruit pop out. Some crackery malt, straw, and white grape as well.

T: Lots of lemon, green apple, white peach and unripe pineapple, light and crisp with a pleasant moderate tartness. The malt backbone is light and crackery with some straw. The taste isn't as funky as the nose, but there is some crab apple astringency and faint barnyard character on the background. Finishes fairly.

F: Pretty light, not quite watery, but close. Very carbonated.

O: A really nice easy-drinking beer that showcases Brettanomyces pretty well. Tasty and refreshing. I just wish it wasn't as pricey so I could buy it more often.

Type: 12-oz. bottle
Glass: Karl Strauss 26th anniversary tulip
From: Bine & Vine Bottle Shop in Normal Heights (San Diego), Calif.
Price: $4.13 (10 pct. off with a variety 6-pack)
Purchased: July 7, 2017
Consumed: July 8, 2017
Reviewed as: American Wild Ale
Misc.: Bottled on May 1, 2017 at 5:23 p.m. ET

Picked this one up as part of a variety 6-pack at Bine & Vine, landing me 10 percent off overall. First time I had heard of or seen this one and it looked amazing. The description I came across read, “Little Brett is both hopped and dry hopped with 100% Mosaic hops and is completely fermented in stainless with our house strain of Brettanomyces yeast. Little Brett is a hazy, straw-colored beer featuring an aroma bursting with pineapple and notes of bread crust. Pineapple continues through the flavor with additional notes of fresh cut grass. A mild tartness in the finish is nicely balanced with a pleasant hop-bitterness.” I absolutely love Mosaic and I enjoy Brett beers for the most part.

Poured a straw, semi-hazy color with two fingers of frothy white head. Lots of bubbles streams coming up along the sides of the glass. Excellent spiderweb lacing. Good spotty retention. (Sight - 4.00)

Smelled sharp pineapple, dry-hopped Mosaic, lemon zest, fresh-cut grass, hints of resin, spoiled pear, sharp pine and stone fruit. (Smell - 4.00)

Tasted tart pineapple, lemon, lime, pine, dish soap, fresh-cut grass, dry Mosaic, hay, underripe berries (juniper?), leafy herbal and green grapes. (Taste - 3.75)

Light body. Oily texture. Lively carbonation. Abrupt, tart finish. (Feel - 3.75)

This was very good, but nowhere as good as I hoped it would be. (Overall - 3.75)
