Pour: Better than anything you've ever had.

Head: Thoroughly

Sheen: Fucking beautiful.

Hue: Lavish ears of wheat, mixed with a golden honey colour.

Draw: Clean, bubbly, whispers the word crisp in your ear as it smacks on your tongue, kind've prickly.

Taste: Fills the mouth with farmhouse herbs, gingery on the back end.

Hold: Leaves the mouth with an allagash classic hint of hops, and the delicious malt.

Aroma: Yum.

Character: Stuart Little

Generously Alcoholic

On tap at the Blackback Pub in vermont. The gin adds a nice dynamic. Different and worth trying at least once, although you have to be a fan of ginger.

Picked this up at Allagash in June.

Body is a translucent straw yellow color. Pours with a 2-3 finger foamy head which quickly fades to a thin collar.

Nose is soft and full of bread, pepper, and oak. Ginger and pine overtones are there too.

Flavor is much like the nose. Soft bread and yeast upfront with an oaky background. Pepper and ginger highlight the finish with a hint of gin and alcohol. Some dry ginger and alcohol heat linger.

Mouthfeel is medium weight with soft carbonation and quite dry.

Overall this is a very classy yet experimental beer. It's very good but I would like it to be a bit softer on the ginger and more classic in saison profile.

8.5 % abv. By vol. Poured into the classic Chimay goblet

A hazy straw gold color, with gyser-style bubbles streaming from the middle creates a thin but frothy cover of foam at all times. Long, sticky, chunky lacing as the liquid recedes.

A very subtle aroma of light ginger, banana, vanilla and wheat.

Ginger flavor hits first, but does not over power. A very smooth, vanilla and crispy wheat malt make for an excellent overall taste. The malted rye adds a very nice peppery, spicy effect, very subtle as the wheat, ginger and smooth vanilla impresses most. The Noble hop is an excellent choice to add earthy tones to the flavor and combine with the rye. The balance of flavor's and depth of charecter is also very excellent. As the liquid warms slightly, the wonderful gin cask flavor pops out even more with a woody, vanilla taste.

The mouthfeel is awesome, super vibrant and crisp with a long, lush finish from the cask aging. A wonderous combo of light, fluffy, crisp and smooth. The liquid is so smooth at the finish it seems to evaporate. Just perfect.

This is the type of magical brew you just don't want to end. Sip slow, ponder and enjoy.

On tap at Vermont Tap house, Williston, VT. This was poured into a tulip. The appearance was a glossy semi-hazy orange color with a slim little white cap of a head. Moderate lacing. The smell had some vanilla, woody dry gin botanicals, and some floral aspects. The flavor takes all of the previously mentioned aromas to bring together nicely. Woody to semi-vanilla/floral aftertaste with a quick semi-sweet finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a nice sipping quality about it. Carbonation runs nice and low. Overall, nice Allagash styled saison imparting a ton of great characteristics in this saison. I would love to have again.

Pours a hazy straw color with a big soapy white head that quickly settles into a light cap.

The aroma is of hay, clove and lemon. Traditional saison aromas. Not much from the barrel.

The taste is of lemon and light clove. Not very oaky but I pick up some of the gin notes.

The feel is light and refreshing. Slightly sweet with a subtle tart finish. ABV not detected at all.

A solid saison but I really don't pick up any of the gin barrel.

Poured into an Ommegang stemmed glass. Label says Bottled on 06/16/16.

A- Pours a cloudy medium amber color with a 1/2 inch white head that retains well before becoming a thick ring around the edge of the glass and a large center patch of sheer surface foam. Semi-resilient lacing leaves small specs behind.

S- Bright saison yeast brings to mind peach, banana and mango. Ginger only really comes through when I give it a vigorous swirl and a sharp sniff. Not much gin though.

T- Fruity esters from the yeast result in more fruit notes but it's definitely on the dryer side with a champagne-like liveliness. Very easy to drink for the ABV. There's also some spice characteristic but I'm not really getting any ginger out of this. I'm also not really getting any gin barrel either.

M- Somewhat spritzy with medium-high carbonation and a body leaning toward the lighter side.

O- A well-made saison but I think they needed to up the ante on the concept. Either more ginger, longer time on the barrel or both.

750 ml bottle into a tulip glass. Bottled 6/16/16, had 9/16/16.

Pours a mostly clear golden yellow, with a two inch head and a good amount of foamy lacing. The smell brings Belgian yeast, candi sugar, black pepper, some gin barrel and juniper berries, some bread, some spices and a light funk aroma. Pretty nice aroma. Taste also leads with the yeast, more gin barrel than the nose, but still a bit subtle. A less distinct juniper berry presence than the nose. Also light malt, some candi sugar, a bit of vanilla as it warms, crackers. Smooth, dry, fairly refreshing, a good body, well carbonated.

This is a really nice saison and while the gin barrels are subtle, they're pretty effective. The ginger though, was a rumor. I know my overall rating is coming in about average, but somehow I expected more from this. A very good beer, but it has a pretty high price point for what you get.

On tap at Cloverleaf Tavern. Pours a golden, amber hue with moderate frothing. Nose is coriander and yeast with a slight tropical aroma and flavor present. Alcohol is well-masked and this was surprisingly drinkable. Nice stab at the style. Worth a shot.

a: hazy straw yellow color with some darker orange notes towards the top of the glass where the head is preventing light from penetrating. pours 1 finger white head, but thats fading to a thick film on top

s: effervescent ripe pears, bubblegum, lemongrass, oak, vanilla, strawberry, big grassy/grainy aromas, green apple skin, and a big punch of malt sweetness

t: follows the nose somewhat, but i'm definitely picking up ginger in the flavor, and didn't really detect that in the aroma. lemongrass, grassy hay, oak, and green apple all share the immediate flavor with the ginger. behind that is some of that malt sweetness, and a huge bready dough flavor. there is a hint of peppery spice yeast at the end as well which balances out the sweetness

m: medium mouthfeel, but super-huge carbonation level; so much so that it feels like its pushing the beer back out of your mouth. a bit too effervescent

o: solid beer, but nothing mind blowing. nice saison flavors in here, and they are well harmonized. a touch too much carbonation though
