While Hoppy Table Beer was inspired by the Belgian tradition of low-ABV, easily drinkable beers, it still occupies a hop-forward spot all its own. Brewed with our 2-row malt blend, Maris Otter malt, and oats, the beer is then spiced with a subtle addition of coriander. We ferment it with our house yeast for classic Belgian citrus aromas. Hoppy Table Beer is hopped with Chinook, Cascade, Comet, and Azacca hops, then dry hopped with more Comet and Azacca. A mildly hoppy aroma full of grapefruit springs from this straw-colored, light-bodied ale. Flavors of pine and stone fruit balance the beer’s clean, slightly bitter finish.

We picked up a six pack of this up in the white mountains and shared one at the top of the mountain on our hike. Well balanced hoppy and yeasty. Nice esters from Allagash's house yeast. Nice chinook pine flavor. Very good.

Clear light golden yellow with bright white head. A very balanced beer in terms of hop aroma and bitterness, it's a wonderfully refreshing ale with a flavor that doesn't fade quickly but also doesn't overstay it's welcome like some other hoppy beers.

This beer could not have a more apt name. Akin to a Champagne, it's dry, hoppy and works well with just about anything you decide to pair it with. Carbonation is off the charts. Not sure I'd actively seek out, but if I saw it available as a lunch beer, I wouldn't hesitate to order.

Picked-up a single bottle as part of a mixed six-pack at Kappy's in Norwell for about eleven dollars. Have had, but not reviewed brew from these guys before. Do not seek out, as not a fan of their more popular styles. Bottled-on date of 7/18. Given the age, this was pretty good, would like to try fresh.

12 oz. bottle.
Moderate pour yields a 1/2 inch white head over a slightly hazy, straw colored body with some sticky lacing. Nose of hops, bread, slight citrus, and even slighter coriander. Taste of a bit of spice, a bit of mild citrus, a bit of hops, and all brought together by the always satisfying Allagash yeast. Well done. Nice feel and overall, go check it out for something a little different. Cheers!

I opened this and the carbonation was so massive that it greatly overflowed the glass despite pouring only about half of the liquid allocation in. I had to wipe up probably a quarter of the beer. The color is a light straw color and very hazy with a 2 inch billowly and thick dense, off white head. I'm smelling an earthy saison yeast and grassy hops. The mouth is moderately carbonated and dry.

I will start by saying I basically got this for free. It's bottle dated Feb 8th 2017 and it's now Oct 2018, and it says drink fresh. So this is a year and a half old batch.
Poured from a 12oz bottle to a tulip, lightly chilled (48ish).
Pours a slightly hazy, mostly clear, very Belgian yellow, with a MASSIVE 3 finger fluffy, plumey head that is not going anywhere. Peaks of lacing like meringue glued to the walls of the glass. Crazy.
Nose is Belgian yeast, cascade hops, a touch of bubblegum, and a slightly off-putting cheesy/foot odor that may very well be a sign of this batch's age. I'm digging the whole aroma minus that cheesy foot. It's not a bretty-barnyard type funk. It's kinda icky. Maybe a slight candy grape element as well. She's still putting out head like your mom's daughter.
On the palate, I'm not getting the foot cheese, thank god. I'm getting everything I got on the nose. A conservative maltiness, cut through by the array of hops that give it just enough fruit and floral to keep it crisp and drinkable, while hardly imparting any bitterness at all. It's a Belgian pale ale. Everything you want in a Belgian golden ale and everything you want in a pale ale, perfectly crafted together. It is remarkably Belgian in character thanks to Allagash's stellar house yeast, yet delightfully, hoppy but also very gentle. This is incredibly drinkable. The bitterness is not lingering or overbearing in the slightest, but it's there just enough to keep it dry. I'm thinking it'd be better ever-so-slightly colder.
An, as-gentle-as-i-could-be re-pour yielded a now 4 finger head of foam. This has to be because of its age. I've never seen anything like it.
Overall, despite being an old bottle, I actually thoroughly enjoy this, which is good, because I have 8 more, but I will definitely be drinking all 8 of them, so hopefully that says enough. I will give this an overall rating of a 3.9 on the edge of a solid 4. I'd love to try a fresh sample.
It's not terribly complex, it's not world class, it's not an IPA or a Belgian golden ale... it's...well, it's a Hoppy (Belgian style) Table Beer by Allagash, and it's quite nice. Get it, if you're on the fence.

Served on tap in a snifter at Consume.

But what if my table isn't so hoppy? Regardless, this stuff pours a mostly clear brass topped by a finger of off-white foam. The nose comprises bright, citrus-y hops, mild grass, light cracker, and a hint of what may or may not be mild melon. The taste brings in more of the same, along with plenty of that Belgian yeast spiciness one would expect from the label's appellations. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a dry finish. Overall, a very pleasant BPA, nothing too flashy in any direction, but decidedly drinkable. Works well with the quinoa and risotto cakes here, lemme tell ya...
