Coolship PêcheCoolship Pêche
Notes: Coolship Pêche marries the delicate flavor of farm-fresh peaches with our Coolship beer’s signature notes of tart funk, apricot, and oak. It ages in french oak wine barrels for roughly two years. To finish, we add fresh, Maine-grown peaches and let the barrels rest for another five months before the beer is ready for bottles.

Huge fan of the Coolship series, especially the standard and Red. Also love Farm to Face. Which made me simultaneously excited to give this a try but also perplexed at why it didn’t impress.

Peach is a powerful fruit and its presence alters the funky and leathery taste of Coolship that I love. At the same time it doesn’t give that fruity and tart 1-2 comdo punch to the gums that Farm to Face does so exceptionally well.

Elements of both wihout improving on either.

It looks very tasty with lacing and bubbles staying around. I usually expect there to be more carbonation on these lambics than other beers and you can see it a bit and taste it on your tongue. The smell is wonderful with peach flavors and funk. The taste is sour (not overwhelmingly so) with a dry finish and tons of complexity to savor. This stands up to any of the great Belgian breweries. I'm so excited to see the Coolship series in Chicago finally and will snag more until I'm broke because they're never cheap.

T- Sour, peaches, lemons, some oak, barnyard funk, touch of wheat.

M- Smooth, light body, dry.

O- A nice lambic, great peach flavors, nice amount of funk, easy to drink.

12.7oz corked and caged bottled 1/24/19. Opened 3/14/20.
Solid pop upon uncorking.
1 finger white head recedes to a cap after several minutes. Yellow gold and opaque but bright against a light. No lacing.
A lactic twang of tartness in the nose. Wood character and a vinous quality. Good barnyard. Unripe / sour fruit (peach - stone fruit) aroma.
Blast of sour fruit and funk in the initial sip. Lively and tart fruit peach, apricot, nectarine.
Lively and zingy mouthfeel and carbonation. Lightly sour / highly tart if that makes sense - long finish of fruit and light funk. A pleasure to drink, downed it too quickly and now feel like I should have savored it more.
Outstanding.

The beer pours a heavy white and bubbly head that dissipates fairly quickly. The beer itself is a clear pale and metallic gold that looks very nice.

The smell is good. It has a good tart note with a sweet apricot note to it. It's nothing fancy but a nice apricot with a bit of funk to it that works well.

The taste is basically the same. It's a delicious apricot with a nice funk bite at the end of the beer.

The feel is good. It has a light body and tingling carbonation to it alongside a dry finish.

Overall, an enjoyable beer and very refreshing.

I lived in New England for 2.5 years and could never find this. I went to the Allagash brewery 3 times and this was never in stock (the one time I flat-out asked the girl didn't know what I was talking about). And then, out of nowhere in December of 2019, I find a bottle just sitting on a shelf in Towson, Maryland. Huh.

I really dig the minimalist, heavy-serif bottle art. Reminds me of one of them alt-advertising campaigns that were designed to appeal to jaded Gen Xers in the 90s. The pour, however, is a bit limp. It's a hazy beer with some light fizz but no real head.

The aroma isn't as "punch you in the face" aggressive as most contemporary sours but it possesses an exquisite amount of depth and zero off nodes. Dry white wine, grape musk, peach nectar, and oak aging. So dry but somehow so juicy. Just fantastic.

The flavor, while wonderful, doesn't quite deliver. Bone dry up front moving into an aggressively tart yeast funk with rounded, peach-heavy fruit nodes rushing in toward the end and leaving behind a wonderfully quenching finish.

Let it warm to proper lambic temperature! Cloudy bright amber with a white cap that eventually settles into a ring. Peach, oak, blue cheese funk, barnyard funk, hay, vinegar, and very faint lemon and apple. Taste on first sip was peach and funk, with some hay and citrus amongst the wild yeast. By the bottom of the glass sip it was primarily funk, especially the blue cheese, with the peach and oak adhering nicely, so rating is in between. Feel is bright, not syrupy but more viscous for the lambic style, funk and oak define beer as it warms.

375 ml bottle, dated 1/24/19. Cloudy (but clear at short depths) gold with slight head that settles to a film. Smell is very nice, clear fermented fruit with some acidity. Taste is tart moderately sour peach apricot with light oak. Feel is very good, moderate carbonation that lasts pretty well. Overall, this is very good and matches Allagash's other wild Coolship ales.

Bottled 1/24/19; drank 12/4/19 @ the Yarchives.

Cloudy orange appearance.

An even pour yielded a small bright white head; minimal lace.

Peach, oak & mild funk notes in the nose.

Medium mouthfeel.

Tart peach and a dry, carbonated bite on the finish; the nose was more soft & complex but the flavor was a bit blunt.

Not terrible, but Farm To Face was a better execution in my opinion.

Split with JLindros. Enjoyed at Red Pepper.

A - Poured into a wine glass a nice hazy golden hue with a thin white head that fades to leave a thick halo.

S - Big aromas of Belgian esters, bright peach juice, nice malts and good fruity elements and light tart aroma.

T - Taste is similar to the nose with nice bright floral peach, pleasant...and then all the bad stuff happens. Buttery oak, huge yeast, big dough and almost fusel combined with a weird almost solvent finish.

M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, little crisp nice finish.

O - Overall this was a solid enough beer, good peach but the negatives here are just enormous. Would not buy again.
