Notes / Commercial Description:
Hugh Malone begins with a grain bill featuring a blend of Maine grown barley, imported Pilsner, and raw wheat malt. At the beginning of run off, we add a portion of hops to the sweet wort in the kettle; a technique known as "first wort hopping". As the boil begins, a generous amount of Chinook hops are added for bittering. Later, in the whirlpool, the beer is hopped with a blend of Centennial and Amarillo, for aroma. This same blend is used, post fermentation, to lend additional hop character to the finished beer. The result is a complex brew with a malty palate, intense hop aromas, pronounced bitterness and a pleasantly dry finish.

Amazing craft beer so obviously made with great care. Love this brewer.

A - Three fingers of dense white head on a very hazy, golden body. As it should, the head settles slowly and leaves cream thick lace on the glass.

S - A lot going on, with subtle, spicy pine first combined with notes of lemon and grapefruit. Euro feel built from pilsner malt and spicy yeast notes. Let it warm for much more.

T - So goes the taste, with sweet pilsner malt and strong, piney, hop bitterness up front. Along the way, pepper notes blend with herbal hops. Pine and balsam dominate the finish with Juniper berries and white pepper.

M - Medium body, big carbonation, and dry finish. Great food beer. Great first or final beer.

O -Complex and drinkable BIPA. Try 24. A wine-like favorite.

On tap in Greenville SC.

Pour is clear amber with a white head that soon reduced to a ring and a few bubbles but does leave some lacing.

Aroma: Belgian yeast with very ripe soft fruits including melons. Herbal hops.

Flavor: moderate-mild bitterness. Light tartness. Yeast and a level of hops appropriate for the style, with bready grains in the background. Faint wet leather.

Overall: a flavorful, amply complex version of the style.

Poured a mostly clear straw color with over a fingers worth of bubbly white head. The smell is earthy, spicy, and finishes with some citrus. The hops jump forward a bit in the taste but you still get a good amount of banana, clove, and some pepper like you'd expect from a Belgian style IPA. The feel is a little thicker than most IPA's but has a good guy finish. This is a complex Belgian IPA with a lot of complexity. Good choice for those who may not be a fan of the style.

Looks a slight hazy golden color in the glass that almost looks like it it glowing. The aroma is really perfumy upon first impression. Notes of apple predominant but also a berry undertone can be noticed with slight problem pinyness on the back end. Really complex aroma that does not seem like an IPA at all. The taste is classic Belgian golden ale. Sweet up front with a fruity finish. Not too bitter with a dry finish. The feel is not overly carbonated and medium light. Overall this is predominantly a Belgian ale but the hops give it an aroma that is like nothing else. Literally smells like a perfume you would wear on night out (but not in a bad way).

L -- Hazy straw color with a large, foamy head. Significant lacing
S -- Hops, grapefruit, tomato. Akin to the smell of Sculpin IPA
T -- Lively citrus hops, apricot, peach, lavender, honey liqueur, floral notes
F -- Refreshing and crisp with a very complex finish, thanks to the Belgian yeasts
O -- The most rustic IPA I've ever had

Bottle from a Lazy dog.
Pours a hazy deep yellow color with a good sized frothy white head. Peppery earthy spice with lemony citrus on the nose and a hint of sweet bread underneath. Sweet bread and pine and citrus with a hint of earth and pepper in the flavor. Pretty tasty beer, I can't believe it took me so long to try this, and I'm loving the 12oz bottles.
