This beer appears a tiny bit paler than your average Belgian Tripel, with a bit of quickly-dissipating foam to join the party. Lovely aromas of fruit and different syrups. Sour-sweet flavor of malts, fruit, yeasty goodness, and a pinch of spices. There is a gentle microfoam that consistently massages your palate. Light body, bready aftertaste, and deceptively easy to drink - just like a true Tripel. Another great beer from Allagash, and one of my favorite American-made Tripels.

This is quite nice as an American Tripel, being quite true to the style with a bouquet of very well balanced spice and sweetness (it mentions honey and fruit on the label and I would say that's not a stretch). Balances sweet and dry rather admirably while bringing proper complexity into the fold, IMO.

For me it's something of a dog fight between Le Fin Du Monde and this one for my 'quality' North American Tripel. Allagash's is much milder with less of a biting carbonation like La Fin Du Monde, but I'm still finding it a toss up between these. Both are wonderful options for tripel lovers and really comes down to preference on what you're looking for.

Overall it's very credible, an actual authentic Tripel and a real credit to Allagash for putting it together. This will always tempt me as an option on Any Given Sunday and is a testament to the skill of American brewers. Anyone who likes the style and lives in America really needs to try it and see how it goes for you personally because it could potentially become a real favorite.
