Style: Belgian Strong Pale Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 7.50%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
Allagash Confluence Ale is created with a mixed fermentation; utilizing our house primary Belgian style yeast in combination with our proprietary Brettanomyces strain. The two yeast strains work in tandem creating a marriage between spice and fruit flavors that ultimately leave a lingering silky mouth feel. Confluence is brewed with a blend of both imported pilsner and domestic pale malts as well as a portion of caramel malt, resulting in a complex malty profile. Tettnang and East Kent Golding hops are added in the brew process to balance the intricate malty profile while adding a sweet and spicy citrus aroma. After fermentation, Confluence undergoes a lengthy aging process in stainless steel tanks to enhance the flavors. Prior to bottling, it is dry hopped with a Glacier hops, providing a pleasant balance of aromas.

Had this on draft in a 8oz tulip at Pub Royale Chicago. This had a very nice light amber look to it with a hazy appearance. This had that initial Allagash taste to it when you first dive into it with great lemon tasting to finish it off. Never heard of the beer until the other day and will try again in the future.

On tap at Rattle n Hum. Some brews leave wondering & this is one. Up front, I'm not a sour/Brett fan so the slightest hint can leave me cold

This pretty beer smells like bubblegum & tastes like bubble gum & pickle juice. I would say "not my cup of tea" but that would insult the tea.

I appreciate the talents of Allagash, but this escapes me.

A dark orange with substantial brett haze. Big 1" white head on it. Nose was malt driven, didn't detect barrel notes, or brett really. Thought there would be more going on.

Taste was real mundane, the brett didn't take off. Seemed like a very expensive bottle for its lack of anything special. Felt like a big rip off to have a mild hopped pale ale that comes off more malty than anything else. Total meh.

POurs straw yellow on tap @ Mekong RVA. Aroma of wet hay, malt, barnyard, lemon, mild funk, slight grape and citrus with apricot. Flavor follows aroma with slight cracker, touch of lemon like tartness, earthy, slight earthy hop. The feel is light but not extremely light. Enough to let the malt shine with the hops. Overall a great beer once again by Allagash.
