Grand Cru is brewed with a touch of peated malt and spiced with coriander, sweet orange peel and a hint of anise. It is deep golden in color, full bodied and has hints of smoke and licorice in the taste and aroma. The malty, warming finish is perfect for colder weather.

Batch #14, poured into my large Gulden Draak tulip, Allagash's Grand Cru is a burnt gold with a creamy off-white head that lasts through the last drop, leaving very light lace.
Aroma is very spicy, citrus and floral, very much like a saison, with a slight hint of graininess as it warms.
Taste is also very spicy, and again, is pretty much saison to me, although maybe not as dry, plenty floral. Perhaps it's the spices, but there's a sharpness to it I can do without.
Mouthfeel is creamy, medium body.
Drinkability is moderate. Alcohol is well hidden, but the spices are a bit to robust. Overall, this was very average, for the style.

LOOK: Burnished-gold color and a big dense frothy head.
SMELL: Coriander and anise, I'd say. A little perfumy? Festive.
TASTE: Citrusy-spicy. Those spice notes from the aromatics open up in the mouth. A little bit of caramel maltiness. Very little bitterness.
FEEL: Medium-to-full bodied. Good carbonation helps the flavor profile open up a bit.

Golden tinge and opaque. Earthy malt, slight farmhouse, roots. Slight anise finish. Another great one
