Poured from a 375ml bottle into a Brooklyn tulip glass.

Color is a rusty amber with no head.

Smell is of tart sour fruit. A definitely a cherry aroma, but a slight citrus juice taste.

Tart and dry with a inherent juicy sweetness. Awesome.

A 375ml half-champagne bottle without label. Purchased in 2012 at 'Night of the Great Thirst' in Eizeringen, Belgium, and carefully stored since. Not sure what the vintage of this bottle is. Time to see how it has evolved!

A: Poured into a Duvel tulip. Bottle conditioned. A rich, hazy orange-amber hue with a pinkish tinge. Light carbonation and fine sediment. Yields a decent head of creamy white foam that lasts for a few minutes before dissipating.

S: Aroma of sharp, sour fruitiness with hints of mild cherry, lactic acid, a touch of brett, subtle funk, straw, faint husky grain, earthiness and a delicate, lingering vinous quality. Simply amazing, and practically a match for a genuine lambic.

T: Tastes of sour fruitiness with overtones of cherry and a lengthy finish. Notes of tart cherry, vague red fruit, lactic acid, mild funk, subtle brett, earthiness, straw and faint husks. Possesses a muted vinous character. Seriously sour, followed by a lingering fruitiness upon swallowing.

M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and very dry, with soft carbonation and good body. Would benefit from being a bit more lively. The sourness dries the palate. Highly astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of sharp fruitiness, hints of cherries, lactic acid and earthy yeast.

O: Delicious - a superb spontaneous fruit beer. Looks great, while the aroma is sublime; sour cherry and wild yeast notes combine perfectly. The flavour is also excellent - tart fruit and earthy yeast mix harmoniously. Good body, though could be a shade more carbonated for the style. A fantastic effort that successfully captures the essence of lambic, even though it is brewed thousands of miles away from Belgium. Not quite as complex as some true lambics - the funkiness seems more subdued - but a quality brew nonetheless. Any lover of sours should try this if the opportunity arises.

A - Poured winelike in color, like a rose, with more purple. Head dissipated quickly, for the mere seconds it lasted, it was a large bubbled loose white head. It fizzled like I was pouring a sprite. No lacing, looks flat, but expected for the style.

S - Crazy range of sour notes, intense. Fruity, dirty, some plastic. Smell the sourness and wild yeast, use your imagination.

T - The first sip I get this very prevalent spice flavor, almost cinnamon. I like it, gives it a pop. I dont get much for cherry, unless that is the cherry flavor. This taste lingers through, I wonder if this is the signature of industrial way wild yeast? Either way it is unique to this brew, peppery, spicy, big red gum, sour, must.

M - Flat as expected, slow slow sipping, acid finish, vinegary. Ive had a range of sours and this is more on the intense in your face side, by no means subtle.

O - On the more intense side of sours, more a sipper than a refresher. The unique flavor keeps me coming back. The fact this was spontaneously fermented in Maine also excites me. I probably wont give this review justice as I am not a big sour drinker, but I would recommend this as a great and unique example of the style.

2011 batch tasted in 2015

Nicely carbonated, though head is fleeting. Smells of BO. Sweaty armpits. I get nothing from the cherries, though I suspect that addition has long faded away. Mild tartness. Somewhat refreshing, aside from the aroma.
