Not many Witbiers illustrate why the style is relevant. At best boring in most hands, Allagash grasps the need to explore the rich, slightly funky hit of sour grain while delivering esters ranged from banana to spice. Delicious.

Straw colored witbier. It has a good wheat base but with a good mix of other flavors including orange. A beer that lives up to its reputation and is always a good fall back when you are out.

L - Poured into a Weizen glass. Turbid straw color, minimal foam and spotty lacing
S - Fresh straw, some spices. Smells like Belgium.
T - Whoa. Hard to put into words. Complex and somehow it all comes together. Orange zest, spice. Kinda like Allagash House (another great beer) but more sophisticated.
F - Great feel and finish. Perfect carbonation.
O - Visited the brewery for the first time and while I picked up several other beers, somehow forgot to grab this. Found it at my local beer guy's store. Outstanding. One of the only US breweries that can manage to pull off a Belgian wheat.

Poured from 12oz bottle into standard pint glass. Bottled on September 26th 2016.

L: Pale hazy yellow. Finger width white head, super fluffy, excellent retention. Insanely sticky lacing.

S: Sharp on the nose, clove, coriander, wheat, yeast, banana, lemon, orange peel.

T: Yeasty and grainy, very loud flavor of coriander and barley and wheat. Orange peel, lemon and a hint of banana. Grass, white pepper.

F: Seltzer-ish amount of carbonation and light body make this an easy drinker and refreshing.

O: I have heard how good this beer is and it more than lives up to its reputation. How delicious.

I cracked this open and I smelt tones of cloves, lemon and orange with a bit of a burnt grain smell. The look was a cloudy yellowish orange with a thick head. It tastes a bit tart at first, but then the citrus flavor kicks in as well as a taste of banana bread. It isn't very carbonated however, and there is a strong aftertaste of said banana bread.

Had two 6 ounce pours at Joe's Steak and Stone Crab in Chicago, Illinois while staying at the Waldorf Astoria. Outstanding white which is why I had two.

Clean & concise beer, true-to-style with lots husky coriander spice, chewy autumn grain & a bright splash of orange citrus. Nothing revolutionary, but ticks all the boxes.

A: When I initially poured the first 2/3 of the beer it was a crystal clear straw color, after swirling the last 1/3 to loosen the yeast and poured it in, the cloudiness really takes over. Cloudy yellow to orange color, super white dense head that is really hanging around. Great lacing.

S: I get the clove, banana and bandaid that is really typical of the style. The bready malts really have a presence as well.

T: The clove, banana and bandaid really pop up front, followed by some malty sweetness. Nothing really in the way of bitter hops but the yeast play that role in my opinion.

M: Light to medium fullness.

O: Quality beer in my opinion. I love this style and this one lived up to the hype. I guess Im a sucker for the flavor and smell that the yeast brings in this one.

Look: The beer has a bright yellow body and is not transparent. When served on tap in New York City at the Blind Tiger, it produced a white one-finger head. What was left of the beer was a ring and some foams on the surface.

Smell: The malt dominated the nose. One could feel the notes of banana and some cloves.

Taste: Zest is the true taste that dominated, limited notes of banana and clove. At times, I could feel the carbonation. Neither too sweet nor too bitter. All in all, the beer is well-balanced. Not that much peppery.

Feel: The beer is low-bodied. Clean finish. No crispness. All in all, the beer has a juicy and fresh feel.

Overall: Although the beer could have a better head retention, I would recommend it for its nice balance.

Can't say this is a bad beer, but it's my 5th witbier of the week and it's clearly in last place. The coriander, citrus, etc is there but they're weak. Not complicated, complex, or even very tasty.

I don't get what all the fuss is about this beer.

Look: Pours a cloudy yellow color with a brilliant white head.

Aroma: Coriander and lemon. Mild banana.

Taste: Very tame. Orange pith, lemon oil, cilantro and banana. The flavors are good but I need more depth and character.

Feel: The body feels thin and bubbly. The aftertaste is dry and sweet. Decently crisp and sessionable.

Overall: Overrated, especially for a beer thats watery, expensive and only comes in four packs. Not bad, but a questionable purchase.

L: Pale pale yellow-white, quite clear
S: Yeasty, typical Belgian, some sweet, champagne
T: Yeasty Belgian again like smell. Initial impression typical Belgian, but it is not overpowering. First Belgian that I dont MIND drinking, but still not my type of taste as I normally hate them. Very subtle but balanced flavors, sweetness.
F: Balanced medium body. Nice feel

A: hazy almost opaque lemon yellow, soapy and quickly dissipating 1 finger head with a good amount of lacing.
S: strong, tart and very spicy, prominent lemon character that blends well with the wheaty tartness
T: Immediate wheaty tartness followed by subtle sweetness and warmth, not as much lemon as one would expect, a very prominent spicy character, lemon remains subdued but beer remains very zesty
M: creamy and silky smooth with a dry finish
O: I fucking hate belgian wits (though I passionately love belgian beer), and this is the best one I've ever had and I truly enjoy it. this beer is not complex but doesn't need to be, it is an excellent example of the style and each layer here (though there are not many as noted) is interesting and pleasant enough that the lack of complexity is a non-issue. buy it if you get it in your area

Pale yellow with modest head and minimal lacing. Hints of orange and spice (not sure I could come up with coriander if I didn't know it was an ingredient) but the nose isn't super fragrant. Taste follows nose--balanced, certainly, but also only hints of those favors. But I'm not complaining about Allagash. This seems to be An excellent version of the style, as best as I can tell (can't think of a witbier I liked as much), but it's just a style that does only so much for me.

Deliciously refreshing take on the style. Leaves a decent punginess that makes ya want more :) 16oz pint glass, poured fresh, sat less than 5 mins. Decent retention along edges of glass but as expected, minimal lacing. Highly recommended.

12oz bottle into a pint glass.
Hazy pale yellow body with nothing but a white ring of small bubbles and spotted lacing.
Yep, wheat, coriander and orange peel aromas, just like advertised.
Flavor is refreshing and clean, unlike the look.
Clean, almost wet, feel and orange peel on the back end.

Very light in the glass, even for a Wit. Lovely light-ish aroma, yeasty but not overly citrusy or spiced. Superb flavor, very light on the citrus and coriander. Goes down incredibly easily - the first glass is gone before you know it. Outstanding example of a stateside, Latter-Day Witbier. Praying that Allagash doesn't get bought out by a global beverage giant...

Pours a hazy straw hue with white head. It looks exactly how a wit should, so enticing on a warm day. Light aroma of citrus peel. There's a light spicy and you can taste some of the citrus. It is so soft and wonderful. Allagash White is a world class Witbier.

Pours neon yellow. Lasting sudsy head.

Bready and sweet. Banana bread, sweet corn, sour lime.

Aforementioned dry sourdough bread. Sour pang. Sweetness. Earth notes.

Mouthfeel is good, impressive smooth, medium body for such a light beer. Guessing ABV @ 5%.

Can't go wrong with this one, hard not to like.

Holy yeast! What a smell! I've never smelt a beer with this much yeast! Plus orange peel and citrus. Taste is extremely well balanced with light carbonation. It screams summer with the crispness and full bodied flavor. Love the wheat taste that mixes with the spices. Haven't had many Witbiers but this is an amazing beer. Period. Well done.

On tap at Sol 38 restaurant. Had a Milky straw color with a thin head. Tastes wheaty with a bit of coriander but without hops. I didn't taste any of the citrus flavors that other reviewers talk about. Overall, this is a decently drinkable beer, but others with greater character are available at a lower price.
