750 mL bottle poured into an Allagash chalice. No bottle date.
Appearance - Pours a golden yellow with an enormous white head. Eternal retention and spectacular lacing. Picture perfect.
Smell - Herbal hops and a nice fruit estery flavor from the yeast. Sweetness backs it up, but not a heavy malt sweetness.
Taste - Grassy hop flavor. I don't get citrus from the hops, but it's got a hefty sweet fruitiness from the Belgian aspects. Aggressive hop character that lends itself nicely. The finish is a nice sweetness that is balanced by a biting bitterness. Peppery, as some others have described it.
Mouthfeel - Hefty body, but still quite drinkable. Good carbonation. The bitterness is well integrated, but still a little strong.
Overall - Quite a nice beer. I'm seldom disappointed by Maine and Allagash. An impressive combination of their respective strengths.

On tap at Cask and Vine with Mr Barleywine.
I started and ended the night with this, great brew. Huge citrus and fruity hop aroma with bits of bread and spicy rye adorned with hints of pepper and clove. Flavor follows the aroma. Great brew, if only the bottles weren't so obscenely priced.

Pours golden yellow color with huge head. Very hoppy, especially for Allagash. Lots of good citrus here with tangerine jumping out. Smooth and light, I could have a couple.
