12oz bottle in a nonic.

Pours a bright golden sunshine color with a fat white head that leaves lots of lacing and never thins past a thick film. It's bright, clear, and a touch cloudy all at once. Gentle small bubble carb.

A very pleasant nose of yeast, light hops like lemon and grass. A mild touch of funk.

Toasted malt, active yeast, spice, and lemon. There's a slight mineral or medicinal quality that comes from tart apple flavor.

Medium body, smooth and easy drinking. Gentle with no yeast harshness. Clean flavorful finish.

Less is more: less funk, less alcohol, less fruits; all add to more drinkability and enjoyment.

12oz. bottle courtesy of Ineedabeerhere (Thanks Joe!). Served in an Allagash chalice. Pours a dull orange with a slight haze to the clarity and a tight, 3/4 inch bright white head. Nose is a bit subdued - suggestions of the Allagash house yeast strain as well as a hint of tangerine. Taste consistent with nose with a light bitterness at the back. Mouthfeel is light in body with a consistent, even carbonation. Overall, a simple and drinkable BPA - too bad it's brewery only; I'd love to have a log on-tap.

Thanks to fujii13

Light fizzy head, golden yellow hazy color.

Nose fresh hops, grassy floral earthy Euro hops, outfit grassy lemony, nice Belgian light yeast juicy fruity aromas.

Taste similar, light bready malts and yeast, Belgian yeast character, nice Euro grassy hops, blond golden like Belgian, decent bitterness, light straw, etc.

Mouth is med bodied, nice carb.

Overall quite nice, drinkable, dry, crisp, nice combination of Belgian yeast and hops. A well done belgian pale, off what Allagash usually does, but they got another winner.

Pours a golden color with a good sized white fluffy head, fades at a slow rate, surprisingly clear.

Smell has a good deal of lemon zest, hop presence is a bit stronger for Allagash but nice and unexpected, grassy and floral, sweet malt backing smooths things out.

Taste is crisp and refreshing, light fruit presence such as lemon, grassy hops follow and stick around for just long enough to impart a nice bitterness, finishes dry, not overly sweet or malty but a great balance throughout, very easy drinking.

Allagash House Beer
1/26/13
12oz, no date/code.

Cloudy, glowing orange. Fluffy white head retains at a finger. (3.5)

Aroma is yeasty, earthy and a touch spicy. More hops would be nice, seeing as the yeast character is not particularly pleasing. (3)

Dry and pretty bitter. Spicy, peppery and decidedly phenolic. Basically follows the aroma with a touch more complexity. Bread, hay, straw, wood, leaf. Slightest bit of lemon. Clean, no esters. Rindy bitterness really builds up on the palate. Medium carb, semi-watery feel, refreshing. (3.5, 3.5)

A decent Belgian pale. I like the dryness, but I really think it could use some more fruit character and hops. I don't think the Allagash White yeast strain carries over particularly well to this style, though it's still a nice beer. (3.5)

Poured from the bottle into a tulip glass. Much thanks Toasterchef!

Out of the bottle she pours real nice, with a creamy off white head easily three fingers deep with a thick whipped presence. Retention manages well, good staying power if a little soapy but that meringue keeps glued. The body color is beautiful, it has numerous shades of orange amber and yellow gold, with super slow rising carbonation, and a strong middle column of fire in the middle. As it sits the head clumps like crazy all over the glass This is sexy looking, I am transfixed.

What an interesting nose. Sweet malts, a little bit of that classic Belgian sensing candy (sucrose?) but with a different sweet sense. Airy crisp malt and mild hop hiding, but a real creamy sensation whaffs over. It smells like sweet angel food cake, it's crazy, with a little bit of malt husk.

Palate reaches for a light bodied pale ale angle, but easily drinks like nothing going down. Crisp malt pleasanstry followed with a dense mild sweetness. Hop like finish hints just ever so slightly.. I can't pinpoint the profile, you just know it's there, that green leaf bitterness. Real complimenting flavors, that meld nicely, wonderfully balanced. I also love the fact the sweetness on this is so toned down too.

Overall, what a great super beer. An idea of a super session-able Belgian? Pattersbier? And one that seems all American to boot? I love it and I am normally NOT a fan of this brewery. Great friggin job!
