part of me expected this to be bretty and funked out like crazy, but i was sort of glad it wasnt. they do enough of that awesome stuff and its cool to have something different from them. this one is a belgian pale all the way, glad to see it listed here as such.its denser golden honey colored with some chill haze on it and a bubbly thick head, just off white, and lasting really nicely, patient looking beer. it smells somewhere between a belgian and a saison on the nose, a little farmhouse element to it, largely probably coming from some wheat that must be in this, but also from the yeast, which has some bubblegum notes to it in the smell, but is quite tame and more herbal frankly than anything else, almost like hay or tea or something. the flavor carries over almost all of the elements from the nose, but it adds a couple too. the most obvious are the hops, which are not bashful in the slightest, but quite pronounced on the tail end and grassy bitter bitey as well, working well with the yeast and grain happening here, this beer feels rustic and raw intentionally, less refined than so many, and sort of left to its own devices which i like a lot. i love the low abv, it tastes and feels a lot bigger, like it could be a baby tripel or something, really really well done, although at the end of the day probably not all that different from a lot of others in its field, its just special because this is an american product. you wouldnt know it without reading the label, thats for sure.

On tap at the brewery. Sampled on May 1, 2015.

Golden yellow pour with modest white head.

Aroma is toasted malts and a vague will yeast sourness. Clean and crisp.

Medium chewy body.

A good toasted bread flavor with a hint of wild yeast tartness. But fairly easy drinking.

From valdieu2.

Pours a pale hazy blonde. Nose is a bit green and hoppy with mild creamy esters. Taste is light stone fruit, slight bitter hippy edg, coriander. Nice slightly hoppy BPA.
