Midnight Brett is chocolate brown in color, brewed with 2-Row, Midnight wheat, raw wheat and rye malt. It was hopped with a blend of Perle, Glacier and Simcoe hops. The beer was fermented with our house strain of Brettanomyces in stainless tanks. The finished beer has the aroma and flavor of fresh berries, sour cherries and a slight roasted character. The finish is pleasantly tart and fruity making this beer very drinkable.

No label information. Midnight Brett is brewed in the style of an American Wild Ale, available in 12.7fl oz. bottles and on rotating draft.

Poured from a 12.7 oz. bottle to a tulip glass.

(Appearance) Pours a crisp frothy head of a manilla-tan consistency over a dark brown body with little transparency nor clarity. Retention is average and lacing is light and patchy. 3.75

(Smell) Bread malts with a subtle roasted nose, no discernible hop aromas nor bitterness. Moderate impact from the Brettanomyces strain, generating aromas of tangy stone fruit, peppery funk and a modest acidity. Potency is moderate. 4

(Taste) Toasted bread crusts, soft roasted grains, and trace fruit syrups with a very light residual sweetness, followed with a delicately tangy fruit finish of tart cherry juice and soft funk. Finishes clean and very dry. I found the sourness of this beer to be fairly subtle but in line with the delicate roasted characters of the malt, although the beer had dried out significantly with little to no residual sweetness remaining for a dry-tasting ale with light flavor. 3.5

(Mouthfeel) Texture is slick, lightly syrupy, smooth, softly chewy, dry. Carbonation is moderate, generating a medium frothiness and a moderately crisp finish. Body is medium for the style, shy of medium overall. Balance is slightly dry malt and earthy funk over sweetness. Alcohol presence is low and there are no off characters. 3.75

(Overall) A nice wild ale with a surprisingly high drinkability and a complexity of malt and sour characters with no flavors even approaching the chance of going overboard. I felt the sourness was light, but in line with the specialty malt character, which was evidently complex and unique but still passive in flavor presence. In short, Midnight Brett is carefully crafted and meticulously balanced but nonetheless not very exciting. 3.75

Hit all the right notes. A brett masterpiece. I picked it up somewhat late in the game, glad I did. Dark malt character is exceptional. Shared with social distance.
