Notes / Commercial Description:
Golden Brett is a dark golden colored beer, brewed with Victory, 2-Row and Red Wheat malt. It was lightly hopped with a blend of Northern Brewer and Simcoe hops. The beer started it's primary fermentation in a stainless tank and finished fermentation in a 800 gallon oak foudre. The finished beer has fruity nose and flavors of citrus, apricot and bread crust. The mild tartness of the beer gives way to a long, clean finish.

@ Sam's Bottle Shop

Clearish yellow with minimal head. Stong Bretty aroma: floral, leathery, and musky with a dry peppery citrus quality. Tastes strongly of Brett as well, though lighter on the florals and with more fruit juice. Apricot, pineapple, and grape. Sits heavier on the palate than expected, but otherwise slick, dry, and tart. Solid, but not that impressive. I'll try it again sometime...

Thanks to rudzud

Big creamy foamy head, light lacing, fades fairly quickly, hazy lemon yellow color.

Nose nice funk, barnyard funk, little gym sock, musty funk, a touch of malt, little lemony like funk, fair earthy cheesy, little vinous grape skin, some toasted oak.

Taste is a little sad, starts nice with more barnyard funk, cheesy earthy gym sock funk, but then turns into a weird finish like a rotten fermented apple and creamy thing, a little toasted oak, weird vegetal thing. Finish is that weird apple rotting thing, little sour lemon and tasked oak, more and more bandaid as it goes.

Mouth is med to lighter bod, lighter carb, little flemmy slimy.

Overall started good but ended bad.

Split with JLindros.

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip nice crystal golden hue with a thin white head that fades to leave light wisps.

S - Aromas of huge funk factor, almost cheesy gym sock funk. Light fruit skins, vinuos grape notes.

T - Taste is similar to the nose, the start is great super funky brett, nice apple and grape skin. Then it quickly turns into a rotten apple. Incredibly awful on the finish.

M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, crisp, clean.

O - Overall this was a very underwhelming beer, started off nice but the finish was awful. Really really unfortunate.

12.7 fl oz bottle into large tulip. At $16.99 in NYC it was ridiculously spendy, but I splurged as it's a highly rated brett beer by a solid major brewery. And I'm majorly disapointed. Golden color true to name, massive 3+ in. off white head that disappeared completely in 5-6 minutes. Slight haze. Musty hay, tangerine/ apricot, and a slight acetic acid on the nose. Flavor unfortunately amplifies the acetic/ vinegar character, which detracts from the more enjoyable fruity/ funky brett flavors. A nice light sourness. Substantial oak permeates the beer, and I also get slight papery/ cardboard notes in background. Mouthfeel is very full and almost syrupy, but I think it's the heavy oak tannins that contribute to this fullness more than underattenuation, or an excess of long chain dextrins or proteins (wheat). Whatever it is the beer feels slick and prickly on the palate, and the intriguing malt and brett flavors are somewhat lost to heavy wood and lighter paper & acetic acid off-flavors.
