750ml bottle poured into an unlabeled sherry glass 6/6/2014.

A- Dark cola brown body. Pours into a very thick and effervescent, smooth off-white head with great retention. Very reactive to agitation. Nice looking porter.

S- Hint of oranges lurk behind a chocolate malt backbone with some yeast spices. Roast malt, milk chocolate, a little bit of orange peel.

F- Milk chocolate, a hint of roast espresso, orange peel. Some yeast spice. Not particularly complex but certainly not offensive. The oranges don't show up in any real appreciable way.

M- Medium body, a bit thinner than I'd like as there is a dry, thin finish that is presumably characteristic of the yeast strains. Clean and dry. No appreciable bitterness on the aftertaste.

O- Solid porter base but missing any strong orange presence. Well-crafted and not difficult to drink whatsoever. Enjoyed this one, but at $20 a bottle, I'd expect more of this beer.

The beer poured a dark amber color. It was dark enough that in the glass it appeared opaque. Coffee and cream head. I smelled a little citrus. The taste was mainly roasty notes, but with an aftertaste which reminded me of the aftertaste of orange juice. Blending blood oranges with a porter worked nicely.
