look: 3.75 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 3.75

Pours a deep black with a short head and minimal lacing.

The smell is loaded with coconut up front and a little chocolate and vanilla underneath.

The taste is very coconut heavy with dark malts, char, and a little bitter chocolate. The coconut dominates everything but the char.

The mouthfeel is incredibly thick and smooth with a little bit of fizzy carbonation.

Overall this mouthfeel is fantastic and I can appreciate this beer for what it is, but I'm not a coconut fan and the coconut/char flavor is too strong for me.

look: 4 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 4 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4

Poured from a can into a snifter
Appearance – The beer pours a pitch black color with a two finger head of deep brown foam. The head has a good level of retention, slowly fading over time to leave tons of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is huge of a roasted malt smell mixed with other very strong of coconut mixed with lots of vanilla. Along with these smells comes a bit of a coffee and chocolate smell as well as a touch of oakiness and some slightly warming boozy smells.
Taste – The taste begins with a sweeter dark roasted malt flavor with the sweetness being predominantly of a brown sugar and molasses taste. Right from the start one detects flavors of coconut and vanilla as well as some lighter cocoa notes. As the taste advances the coconut gets quite a bit more potent and is joined by an almost creamy like flavor. At the same time the chocolate gets slightly more robust with other darker flavors of a coffee and carob taste joining along. At the end the roastiness seems to fade, being replaced by some brown bread tastes and a bit of plum. With a little bit of booziness that greats the taste buds at the very end, one is left with a sweeter, and moderately roasty, coconut heavy taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is thick and creamy with a carbonation level that is rather low. For the sweet and moderately dark and roasty tastes the feel is nice and with the high abv. the lower carbonation and thicker feel make this brew an appropriately slow sipper.
Overall – A little on the sweeter and less roasty side for an imperial, but overall a brew with tons of flavor and lots of robustness. I think I still prefer Tupps’ normal and maple imperials over this, but overall it is good and was a nice one to try.

Appearance: Deep black in color, with a modest, fine-beaded dark tan head, with excellent persistence. Thick, fine-beaded lacing adorns the glass wall in an unbroken sheet.

Aroma: Cold roasted coffee dominates the aroma. Surprisingly, I cannot detect the faintest hint of alcohol, even at an ABV of 12.1%. Bitter cocoa, and dark chocolate are also present, along with chocolate milk notes, fresh brownies, vanilla,, and wood. Alas, the coconut is lost on me. Again, I did not note any alcohol in the aroma.

Taste: Opens with an immense amount of cold roasted coffee, with no bitterness to be found. Soon following is a strong note of chocolate milk, and bitter cocoa. The high ABV of 12.1% is incredibly subtle, with only a hint of taste, and no warming. Fudge brownie dominates the middle of the taste, but, alas, for me there is no coconut. There is just a hint of vanilla and wood, late in the taste. Finishes with a lingering note of chocolate cheesecake sprinkled with espresso powder.

Mouthfeel: Smooth and fairly full, with perhaps a bit of sharpness.

Drinkability/notes: Just excellent, as are all of the "Full Grown Man" varieties, though the "Full Grown Jack" surpasses all. Many thanks to Maridyth, for securing this example for us.

Presentation: Packaged in a standard twelve-ounce aluminum can, served in a Save the World Brewing teku.

Thanks to rudzud, canned 2/21/18

Long legs, light fizzy head, just about black color

Nose is basically loads of coconut and dark chocolate, cocoa, fudgey, maybe a hint of fruity raisin, raw vanilla, maybe a touch nutty, pillowy nougat caramel I think, but so much fresh coconut

Taste thick chewy fairly sweet mounds candy bar, pretty sweet, caramel, fluffy nougat, etc, some dark chocolate and milk chocolate fudge, loads of coconut, but like coconut puree nougat mix, little nutty

Mouth is fuller rich bodied, lush, sweet candy, no booze, decent carb

Overall very very good, only gripe is maybe more carbonation and less sweet syrupy, but still phenomenal

A decadent treat for those who love big, sweet Imp stouts. Big coconut and vanilla on the nose and taste. Uber smooth finish, I have a feeling this beer may be a bit polarizing...kinda reminds me of Southern Tier Creme Brulee in the sweetness factor. I happen to dig it.

Quite a bargain for a 4-pack with such a big punch.

This brewery makes a terrific imperial stout with this Full Grown series, so when I was told of this at the bottle shop I had to try it out. Pours super rich black in appearance with immediate robust head and sticky wall of lacing.
Smells of coconut and malts, some vanilla spice, cinnamon
Taste is rich and sweet dark coconut beer, with vanilla throughout, and a slightly spicy, burning finish. For those who like their double stouts on the sweeter side, this beer you should love (as well as the others in this series frankly).
Feel is thick and chewy, with lower carbonation.
A big treat, a dessert beer probably.

Received as an extra in a trade and shared with JLindros. Canned on 2/21/18.

A - Poured into a Kate the Great a nice dark brown almost black hue with a thin head that fades to leave light wisps. Excellent legs.

S - Big aromas of fresh coconut and dark chocolate. Smells like a coconut candy bar. Nice vanilla notes too that almost lend a dark fruit quality with dark malts.

T - Taste is similar to the nose delicious coconut candy, gooey coconut confection. Great dark chocolate, cocoa nibs, nice roast. Alcohol is hidden lovely, finish is lightly bitter roast.

M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, little thick, could be thicker. Alcohol hidden wonderfully.

O - Overall this was a very solid stout. Alcohol hidden really well, huge coconut notes and chocolate. Nice vanilla too. Really really nicely done.

Gut reaction from a can:

Boy does the coconut work in this. Soft and silky, with high sweetness but not so much that it's a dessert beer or a real chore to drink. Vanilla doesn't feel as genuine as it ought to, but it takes a backseat to the coconut anyway.

Far better than I anticipated from a brewery that seems to be struggling to move product in the Austin market, but $12.99 is pretty steep for a 4-pack. In any case, I'll enjoy working my way through the 4 pack and it hides its ABV pretty well.

Well worth trying, but not up there with the greats. This shows real promise.
