Poured to a 1 finger head, with a lacing that refused to go anywhere after it landed. The longer the beer warmed, the more the flavors would attack my senses.. to the better. A slight chocolate start, finished nicely with the vanilla taste. This has been my only oak influenced brew, so I don't know how to compare it to another.. so I'll just go with YES, the oak is there, and did enhance the overall taste. Great malty aroma throughout!

Having had this beer multiple times in the past, this was the 1st time in a stout glass. The stout glass really made a difference to me this time. Maybe I wasn't as concerned before, but it still tasted much better.

I've had this numerous times over the years, most recent bottle was about 2 years old (long story). I was more or less amazed at how well this low ABV stout held up. It still had a nice bit of oak but was softer than expected. Overall this is just a decent beer but I still was surprised how well it held up.

12 oz bottle. Deep root beer brown with two finger tan head, fades slowly to a ring, minimal spotty lace. Mild roasty coffee aroma. Roasted flavor with coffee and bitter chocolate notes. Not much bourbon or alcohol presence. Semi dry finish. Thin mouthfeel for a stout. Good brew overall, just a bit thin for the style.

Love this stout. Very smooth, no bitterness or dry feel. Black in color with off-white creamy head that remains for the entire consumption. Coffee and very light roast flavors with hints of chocolate. I don't get the bourbon that the Alstrom Bros. identify, but do pick up a woody hint. This is one of those beers that I always see in the store, but never buy because, well, it's always available. I finally made the purchase and this is certainly one of those staple go to stouts that I will keep in my supply.

Poured into stout glass. It pours nearly black with some dark mahogany hues and a two finger, foamy tan head and lacing. Unfortunately, I'm getting very little smell: some roasted malt and the faintest whiff of vanilla but nothing else, which is rather disappointing. The tastes include some burnt coffee and chocolate with, again, some faint vanilla. There is also an oaky flavor. For a stout, it is very light both in viscosity and ABV. Overall, it is okay but it pales by comparison to many other stouts. It could use some stronger chocolate and vanilla and could really use some dark fruit.

not super impressed. seems watery with very little gravity. stickiness with a hint of sour almost like it is a milk stout or they used lactose to extend something that was thin.
