Very nice version of an Irish Stout. Had a nice toasted malt smell to it, as well as the taste. I would venture to say this is better than the big brewed Irish Stouts that I have had, ie Beamish, Murphy's, and Guinness. The head was spectacular. Lasted the whole drink and was still there afterwards. Dark black color with no light coming through the glass. As most of the stouts have, it had the little hop bite to it, but the hops were more defined, rather than just a little taste. It gave it more of an earthy taste at the end. All in all a great style of Irish Stout.

Served on-tap at the OD pub with a perfect, creamy looking head. Dark black body with only slight peaks of light sneaking through the edges.

Smell is roasted malt through and through. Chocolate, coffee, and some slight alcohol maybe. Taste is similar with good roasted bitterness backed by hints of other complex flavors and some sweetness there as well.

The mouthfeel and drinkability were good as well and overall it's a perfectly good dry stout with no problems at all, but it doesn't wow other than its great head formation (that laces well down the glass).

I seem to really be into Irish Stouts right now, so I tried this on-tap at the Old Dominion Brewhouse in DC. Nothing like the Gunisses I've been enjoying since St. Patrick's day.. I found this beer to be too sweet and a had a bit of a burnt after-taste. The carbonation was low. The only redeming quality about it was the appearence, it's certainly one of the better looking beers I have seen in a long time.

This was probably my favorite drink at the Old Dominion Brewpub. It was similar to Guinness but didn't taste as generic (even though other Dominion brews were quite generic). The smell and taste just had a bit more depth and refinement, like it wasn't mass produced, but it was still produced in large volumes. I enjoyed this beer fairly well. Very thick with a slightly mild flavor (easy to drink).
