Bottle dated 12/22/16 into pint glass. Pours a deep amber with a thin, light tan head. Initial impreession is quite complex: buttery caramel, slight resinous hops bitterness, molasses, biscuits, bread, and honey. Hops are present but in the background. Mouthfeel is smooth and velvety; carbonation is light. Finish is slightly boozy, but surprisingly smooth. Very, very good.

Pours a hazy amber color with a tight, tan head that leaves chunks of lacing.

Smells of fruits and toasted malts.

Tastes of the fruits layered over a good malt base. Fruits lead off with notes of raisins and cherries. Malts add in with caramel, toffee, and a bit of molasses. Hops come next with floral and citrus notes. Honey sweetness comes towards the end and linger through the finish.

Mouthfeel is full with a smooth amount of carbonation.

Overall, this is a good barleywine, might have to age a few.

Look - auburn copper coler with slight head and great lacing
Smell - dark fruit like dark cherries and plums and very sweet. Almost like a quad
Taste - taste very similar to a quad, but less fruit more Carmel.
Feel - slight syrup with a crisp carb
Overall - two thumbs up! Like mentioned above, it's a great barley but has hints of a quad

On an impulse I purchased a six-pack, I was not expecting too much. Wonderful. Nuanced and delicate. Bold but not boorish. Phenomenal texture and fragrance.

Very smooth barleywine. 16 oz pours can get you in trouble.

From the cellar, bottled 01/31/08. Ages really well. Lacking some carbonation but great smell, outstanding flavor and mouthfeel. Worthy of cellar space.

Not a huge fan of the style. I believe barley wine ages ok.. Bottle is from nov iv 13 so hopefully so. Nice to try something different but not really my thing.

A: Ruby with a light haze, medium carbonation and thin foamy head (3/3)
S: Honey and alcohol dominate with a little bit of raisin (8/12)
T: There’s a lot of alcohol in this beer...some darker malt character and little bitterness, but mostly the alcohol. Somewhat weird aftertaste similar to mealyness of a crappy light lager but not nearly as strong, and may reflect shipping from DC more than actual beer quality. (15/20)
M: Very smooth yet creamy mouthfeel. Pretty dry on finish. (5/5)
O: Not a huge fan of this guy. It’ll get you drunk, and it lets you know that. I was hoping for a richer flavor profile given the ABV, but I mostly just got the A. (6/10)
